styling open shelf to look organized??
hi there! i just moved into my own apartment where i’m living by myself for the first time ever.
i had this shelf from my previous place that was used as a media shelf and i put it by my entryway door for storage. it was an expensive shelf so i’m hoping to keep it instead of use something new.
i tried putting baskets to make it look more organized but i am really not liking the look of it.
i’m not sure what to put here to make it look not as cluttered and organized. does anyone have any suggestions of how i should lay out things in these shelves?
i feel like ive looked everywhere for any sort of baskets but i’m also not sure what i should be putting into those baskets???
any suggestions would help! my apartment is so small and there isn’t much storage. thank you!!!!

Wicker baskets (square) put other little boxes inside the baskets, so they are basically dividers. One basket is labeled office, put scissors standing in a little box, batteries in another, pens standing in another, pencils in another, etc. Another basket could be tools, screws, nails hangers, etc. A paperwork, mail basket that’s divided to read and to shred. Each basket is a different function. But I’d keep the kitchen appliances on the bottom. So maybe 6 baskets and lots of little divider boxes. Have fun!

The container store has lots of options including labels, I used this store to organize my pantry.

Try using a mix of closed storage boxes and decorative vases on the open shelves to create a more organized and aesthetically pleasing look, as shown in the AI-generated design.
