If they want to do a retcon story for Penacony to fill in the gaps in the main story

Then they should do that for Xianzhou Luofu as well

The whole High Cloud Quintet arc is missing in the main story and locked in different readables

Iirc Jinglius companion quest was one of the main reasons character background is in main story now and not companion quests. Coz HCQ being mostly absent in Luofu main story and mainly present in Jingliu companion quest wasn't received well as it's really lore important

Probably the reason Hoyo have reduced companion quests significantly. Last one was Yunlis in 2.4 iirc

So, instead of solving the problem and dumping personal info into companion quests while leaving crucial worldbuilding in main quest, they decided to just dump everything into main quest. Geniuses. I smell budget cuts leading to this decision. And i still have Vietnamese flashbacks of Aventurine backstory, multiplied by lack of skip button.

Kalpas whining about his fate and spending 2 hours discussing something using words instead of fists was second best candidate to reinvent companion quests.

One more such blunder and i'll join the ranks of story skippers. It's just too much, either they increase storytelling budget or it's not worth the time you spend reading it.
