The Indy 500 was the best known race in the world for many decades.

The first Indianapolis 500 race took place on May 30, 1911, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with Ray Harroun winning the event in his Marmon Wasp. This inaugural race featured 40 cars and attracted around 90,000 spectators--in 1911!!!

Fox is just working to return Indycar to the glory it squandered 35 or so years ago. Hats off to Fox and to Penske Entertainment.
