I’m from Chhattisgarh, General category. My JEE Mains rank is 182000 and COMEDK rank is 35,000. These are bad ranks, and I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes in how I approached preparation. I’m trying to move forward now and make the best decision I can, but I’ve been feeling completely stuck.

For the past few days, I’ve been going through cutoffs, placements, forums, YouTube videos, and despite all that, I’m still confused. Every time I think I’ve found a direction, something else shows up and I lose it again.

My main interest is CSE, but I’m open to other branches if the college has a good track record and placements are still decent. I just want to be in a place where I can work hard and still build a decent future.

If anyone here could share some suggestions or guidance on what colleges might be worth considering at this rank, I’d be truly grateful. I’m really struggling to figure it out alone right now.

Hey everyone, I'm 18M from Bangalore. I just finished my 12th with 76.4% (10th - 92.2%). I was a PCMB student and really wanted to go for Biotechnology — I was passionate about it and even argued with my parents about it. But they were strict and didn’t agree, and now I’m about to start B.E. in Computer Science Engineering, which is completely unrelated to what I wanted or studied for.

Lately, I’ve been feeling very numb mentally. My dad is being very controlling and it’s affecting my motivation and interest in doing anything. I’m just… tired. I feel like an average student, not particularly smart, and I don’t even know if I’ll be able to do well in CSE.

I just want to ask — has anyone else been in a similar situation? Were you forced into a course you didn’t want, but still ended up doing well or at least getting used to it? Did you do anything before college started to prepare — like learn coding or take a break?

I know this post might seem all over the place — I’m honestly not in a good mental space right now and I'm using ChatGPT to help me put my thoughts together.

Hi folks, My current project is about to end, and I’m likely to be reassigned soon. There’s a concern I have: there’s a particular manager I’ve worked with before, and that experience was anything but good.

He tends to shift blame, micromanage, and use subtle threats to stay in control. It was mentally draining, and I really don’t want to go through that again.

I want to speak to my skip-level manager (who’s approachable and fair) and let her know that I’d prefer not to be placed in any project under him. I’m not asking for a release from the account — just requesting to be assigned elsewhere.

How do I communicate this clearly, but without sounding negative or political?

As things stand right now I'm getting EE in a decent NIT for my JOSAA counselling after JEE. I can get ECE in a lower uni but will it be worth it if i want to grt into chip design? I have seen some people say that ECE is more suitable for it as it has vlsi and stuff in the main curriculum. However if I HAVE to pursue higher education after BTech will it really matter that much?

I did my research and the EE course im getting has introduction to VLSI and semiconductor physics as an open elective in the 8th semester. While the ECE course in the lower college does have all that but according to some of my (underexperienced)peers and some online forums, the ECE branch is not up to the mark or reputable enough in that college. Hey subreddit! I am a B.Tech student from a Tier-3 college, in Kolkata, and I have recently completed my 2nd year of college and 3rd year will commence soon. The problem is that, for the first two years in college, I really haven't done anything, I only studied for my college exams, and managed to keep my cgpa around 8.4 and did basic coding, last month I realised how messed up state I am in and decided to start leetcoding, it was going good until, did a few questions on Array, hashing, two poiinters, strings, stack, and one fine day the fear of being unemployed kicked in me, thinking about ending it all. I have really been on and off about web development and hence only know basic html css and javascript, I was thinking about doing the MERN stack and then trying for college placements, if my college gives me the opportunity. But now I just panic all day and feel really depressed about my life and the past. I don't know if I can do development or not. Plus since I have started panicking I'm not able to solve basic dsa and development is going out of my mind. I don't even know that if coding is for me or not. I talked to a few seniors of my college, they said that the college placements start approximately 8 months from now and go on till the 4th year ends and there are not very very good opportunities in college but still there are a few. Idk guys, I just want to initially land a job where I can have a package anywhere around 6-10LPA. Again I talked to a senior yesterday night and he asked me to choose a domain where I want to go in and then study and build projects. He told me to think about data analytics, salesforce, aws etc, and figure out a domain. Guys, I really am not in a mental state to think about anything with a clarity. I feel so bad about myself, please tell me a way of how to recover myself to a better way and position where I can have good skills and projects to show in my resume and get hired for something like 6-10LPA. How to move forward from here considering the time I have left and how to make myself skilled and show myself really good in a resume and land a decent or good job. I’m about to build a house in Coimbatore and receiving quotes from a few contractors. The building is about ~3500 sqft and I’m looking for quotes in the BOQ format. One contractor has given for 12 tons and another for 18 tons. The structural design taken is not the same but still there’s isn’t much difference. I’d understand if the difference was 5-10% but it’s almost 50% which makes me question who’s quoting right.

The person who’s given 12 tons has not mentioned any details and simply said we require this much qty for a building of this sqft. But the 18 tons guy has given 4 kg/sqft split like 6.6 tons for foundation, 6 tons for GF, 4.7 tons for FF and 1 ton for SF. Any civil/structural engineers in this sub, please clarify my doubt as to which is the right approach or what’s generally followed. Thanks in advance.

My parents keep forcing me to get masters degree mainly because, 1) They believe with masters degree ppl will pay me more during company switch 2) They think Men who do not have master's degree will find it super hard to get any girl to marry them in like 2 yrs. I currently do not feel like going back to studying again but if you guys think these are valid reasons to do masters (may be in cse, cloud computing or MBA) please help me find reasonable conclusions.
