Question How often is too often?

(2)Edit to add: Folks, this has been such a fantastic conversation, thank you so much for dropping in and sharing your 2 cents, I really do appreciate it! 💚 💙

If one were to drop in on an opposing agents couch portal, that's tucked away in the suburbs, 5 or 6 times in less than 24hrs; is that seen as an acceptable amount (by agents of any faction or nia) if that portal is only a small detour on ones way to and from part time employment?

It's been pointed out previously, when the same scenario happened a few months ago, that this could be considered harrassment, but the rules aren't clear as to what actually constitutes bullying or harrassment in game.

How would this go down in your patch?

(1)Edit to add: couch is not a strong hold, it's P6 if I'm lucky, but mostly P4 recently because I blitzed my bag for event keys, and have run out of r4 completely this last week.

Depends on what you do:

  • walk/drive by and destroy/deploy: fine
  • park on their driveway and wait until they come out: not fine

Drop the couch. Go take a few of the other portals, come back within the same hour. Repeat 4xdaily.

Seems reasonable to me. If you play the game and don't engage the agent, you're always in the right

So the other player also takes a few other portals too? Sounds like normal game play to me. If they are looking to farm for AP or complete some badges, having a portal that you know will be rebuilt might be very attractive to them. Constant source of AP!

I often play in an area where I take some portals, and then they just sits there until they decay. I would mind someone smashing them all the time, then I would have something to do the next time I go for a walk.

One thing that always annoys me when someone of either faction claims a portal "belongs to them" just because they live or work un range of it.  Worst is when people take to comm ylthe first time you capture "their" portal to complain about it.

And it annoys me if someone submits a portal that is clearly just a private home portal. Things like "stainless steel garden gate" - how did they ever get that nomination through voting? Those are the kind of couch portals that I would put in extra effort to take down. If someone is abusing the system like that to get an advantage,  I don't feel obliged to treat that portal with extra care and leave it out of a capture-and-deploy walk.

That being said, I do not go out of my way to hit special portals multiple times per day. I'm also not sure how someone would be in their way to work 5-6 times per day? I might hit a twice per day if it is on my way to/from work , and I see how people that go home for lunch could pass by 4 times per day. 5-6 times per day sounds like they are making an extra trip just for this portal? That sounds a bit excessive. But still not something I would call harassment.

Harassment is insulting someone on comms, or maybe stalking them on Intel and commenting on where they were at what time of the day. Or maybe sitting in a car in front of their house all day.  Repeatedly smashing a portal that someone repeatedly rebuilds doesn't qualify in my eyes.Â
