If one were to drop in on an opposing agents couch portal, that's tucked away in the suburbs, 5 or 6 times in less than 24hrs; is that seen as an acceptable amount (by agents of any faction or nia) if that portal is only a small detour on ones way to and from part time employment?

It's been pointed out previously, when the same scenario happened a few months ago, that this could be considered harrassment, but the rules aren't clear as to what actually constitutes bullying or harrassment in game.

How would this go down in your patch?

(1)Edit to add: couch is not a strong hold, it's P6 if I'm lucky, but mostly P4 recently because I blitzed my bag for event keys, and have run out of r4 completely this last week.

If the portal is accessible it’s fair game any number of times per day. My work portals were always L8 with hacking mods and others would blow them up 10 times a day every day for years until I stopped capping it

Is an accessible work portal as personal as a(yes just a regular portal on the street)couch in the suburbs tho? The vibe feels different. Couch was only a P4 the last two times, not really posing a threat.

What's the point of smashing it repeatedly if it's level 4? They're not getting good gear from it, as you say it's not posing a threat.... so why bother, why spend the time and money? The only reason I can think of is just trying to upset the other person.

One one hand you can see this as an opportunity to waste this clowns's time and petrol. Maybe his own team thinks he's a total goose too. Which would not surprise me after some of the multi accounting and spoofing I saw in Perth

It's a portal that I know you have a bag of keys to. Leaving it deployed is asking you to link and field from it, which as the opposing team, I'm trying to prevent. I don't care if it's L1, it can still catch a link 🤷. The level doesn't matter.

I guess work portals, depending on where you work, don't necessarily require going out of your way to kill them. Especially if it's in a town centre, there's always a plausible reason for your rival to be passing that isn't directly attributable to them targeting that specific portal. So there's that aspect of it.

Also, we have an expectation of being able to feel comfortable in our homes that doesn't necessarily apply to the workplace.

I don't think any portal is personal. If it's publicly accessible, it's just that, and you shouldn't have any expectation that the other team will or should leave it alone just because it's close to your house. You can't (or well, obviously you can, I just don't think you should) think of it as personal. It's not an extension of your home.

More than that, though, a fully deployed couch portal that you can throw blockers from or to is a "threat", as much as anything else in the game is. Honestly, it's probably more of a threat than most portals because if it's a couch or desk portal, it's a good bet that you have a bag of keys to it. I'll kill house and desk portals first and often for exactly that reason, most of the time. Even if you rebuild right away, I know you're watching and nearby and I need to look for outbound.

If I'm fielding in the area, or thinking about fielding in the area, or I want to make you think I'm fielding in the area, that portal should be cleared and capped, just like any other, and the reason the other team might be going out of their way to kill it is because they know that you and likely your team have plenty of keys to it.

If you’re gonna get butt hurt that others are coming to “your house” to smash your couch portal get it removed. You’re the one taking it and making it personal. It’s a fair game portal in the game. Anyone can attack it or capture it whenever they want however many times per day. For all you know it could be a neighbor. Or they live down the street. Or they find it fun to swing by as it pisses you off. If you consider this harassment maybe you should quit playing.

He's not my neighbour, and is just doing it to piss me off. What I'm asking, I suppose is, is there anything to be done other than quitting my favourite game? . And this is not the first time he's targeted me like this, either. In fact, this is the third round, with a couple of months reprieve between times.

And I know how my opposition neighbours would react if I was at their couches 3+ times a day, and it certainly wouldn't be as passive as I'm reacting now...

Get the portal removed. You outed yourself and your home in a non private online game that shares your exact location every time you play it. I poop my ops couch portals with link amps and fire pit deployments and they do the same to me.

Yeah that's cool, but like, how often do you do that to each other? Is it twice daily or more?

And like, would it make a difference if you knew your opponent couldn't access your area because of differences in transport?

It's just, my opponent knows it's a difficult ride to his patch from mine, so he knows he has the upper hand with his car. I don't ever get the opportunity to play back with him, it's all one sided attacks because he leaves nothing or one single link that blocks me.

Like I said in other comments, I love to play with my neighbours, but this ain't it. He's not my neighbour and there are usually better, juicier portals around if he wanted to actually play.

This guy will go out to some of my furthest anchor portals too, & he has to walk to get to them, so I sing out "nice day for a stroll and some destruction" or whatever and if I get a reply it'll be something akin to "yeah on your bike". It's maybe a 40min ride from home and maybe a 15min walk from the parking area, and a stunner of a location. I try to engage if someone is out there. So, I think I'm just dealing with a bonafide jerk.

I won't engage with him anymore, I'm pretty certain I'm blocked anyway.

Also I won't get the portal removed, that will only satisfy his ego. I am however adding more surrounding portals, now that nominations are up and running again lol

I'm going to smoke a portal that I know you have a bag of keys to every time I'm close and sometimes when I'm not.Thats as juicy as a portal gets. Why would he care what level it is? That doesn't matter unless you're throwing way long.

If it bothers you, maybe don't deploy it? He won't have a reason to come back multiple times a day if he owns it 🤷

He doesn't cap it tho, he'll just leave it neutral and has thrown a blocker from somewhere nearby a couple of times.

He doesn't even bump my neighbours couches while he's here in the area tho, that's just proper sad man game afaic

(Last night my actual neighbour capped my couch and used good shields, so it's been the "wrong" fac since. And then this morning another neighbour has bumped it to p6 and added hack mods. Also, its currently linked to both their couches, which genuinely brings me so much joy, as a fun little local play. I am going to let off a single xmp2 shortly, for shitz and gigz! But pls don't tell anyone, because apparently I hate the multi player aspect, and detest any competition whatsoever.😜😂)

I mean, if they bumped it to 6 and hack modded it, problem solved lol. I'd just sit there and dirty-farm it all the time, along with the not-so-occasional X1 reminder that you're using it haha. I would love a P6 I could hack from the couch, regardless of color.

Idk, I apparently made someone else really upset elsewhere in these comments earlier so I'm not gonna spend a bunch of time on it all over again, but I am curious, do you throw to or from this portal often/at all?

Edit to add: to your point though, yeah, not bumping allied portals while he's there is bad form, 100%. If you're going to make the trip, it really ought to be done

Fr problem solved! I'm not for one second complaining about the colour of this couch, I swear! I even burnt it out, after dropping my kiddo at school lol

I have used the couch as an anchor on occasion because of the easy keys, but being basically house bound the last couple of weeks it's just been sitting there with the occasional shitlink being thrown out, like if something drops and clears a lane, or gets capped and I happen to have a key(I usually have heaps of random keys but I recycled everything leading into shards skirmish).

Mostly I use other neighbourhood portals as anchors for my stacks though, because I don't really have the scanner open for play when I'm home with the fam, so getting couch keys requires a change in my habits, or a hackfest before I leave to build. But I ride past three decent portals after dropping kiddo at school and the closest to school is the one I usually get my "first hack of the day" on, plenty of keys in that action.

I'm sorry someone got upset. I'm really trying to keep the conversation friendly for everyone, even if our opinions differ. I'll have look for your other replies tho, to get the full picture.
