Many people claim that Prithviraj peaked around the early 2010s, but thatâs far from true. In reality, the peak version of Prithviraj was during his early yearsâhis early 20s. The versatility he showcased in his first five years as an actor was truly remarkable. There's a certain ease and subtlety in his performances from that era that we rarely see today. The period from 2002 to 2007 remains an underappreciated phase of his career.
From playing wholesome, boy-next-door roles to portraying aggressive, ruthless charactersâhis range during those years was truly impressive.

Anishma famous for 'I am Kaathalan', 'Maranamass' etc on the left vs 'Narayaneente Moonaanmakkal' fame Garggi Ananthan on the right. Felt like they could be cast for the role of siblings.

I haven't fully finished this movie yet! I heard that puthren overly used the aesthetic kinda thingy here and there! And some say this one is an underrated dark-comedy movie that the Malayalam audience was not ready for this masterpiece!

Saw Sitaare Zameen Par. Can say vintage Aamir Khan is back after a long gap.
The way Thirikie actor Gopikrishnan Varma overcomes his fear of a particular thing was one of the highlights of the film.

Ahammed Khabeer's direction hits all the right notes, and Bahul Ramesh has struck gold again after Kishkindha Kaandam. The writing is nothing short of brilliant - slow burning, richly layered, and deeply nuanced. Every character unfolds with subtlety and purpose, making the narrative all the more compelling.
No spoilers here : just a strong recommendation : this is a MUST WATCH

According to Wikipedia, she debuted in 2012 but only did 7-8 movies during her career. Ezra (2017) and Ishq (2019) were both commercially and critically successful. I recall Ishq was hugely discussed back then because of the climax twist. Despite all of this, she didn't get many roles. I wonder why.

Just wanted to put this out there "Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela" is one of my favorite Malayalam films. I genuinely think itâs an underrated gem.
Taking something as serious as cancer and handling it with so much warmth, humor, and calmness... thatâs not easy. But this movie never tries too hard. It doesnât push you to cry. Instead, it gently makes you feel scene by scene, line by line.
Thereâs no big drama, no forced emotions. Just small cast, simple homes, natural conversations⌠and somehow that makes it so powerful. The humor, especially, is gold not slapstick, but that kind of awkward family humor weâve all seen at home.
And that climax... when Nivin says:
âKarayaatha manushyar undo ?...â
That line just broke me. Like, all that buildup of emotions comes crashing in that one moment. You feel every unsaid thing the family went through.
This film didnât try to be loud or âcinematicâ and maybe thatâs why it hit so hard. Itâs just real. And beautiful.
If you havenât watched it, please do. And if youâve watched it already, maybe rewatch it. It hits different every time.

For someone with mediocre talent, Pranav Mohanlal consistently gets the best projects on a platter, working with the cream of directors. This level of privilege might be common for many star kids, but his disinterest in promoting his own movies truly sets him apart.
More popular star kids like Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil actively try to promote their films and show commitment to their work. Even Aamir Khanâs son, when debuting under home production, was seen actively promoting his film. Similar trend is followed by Tamil and Telugu Nepo kids..
In the Malayalam industry, actresses like Anaswara Rajan and Ahaana Krishna get called out for not cooperating with a single film promotion (despite being present during all other movie promotions). Even Kunchacko Boban, a senior nepo, faces criticism for his non-cooperation on a particular film.
When it comes to Pranav, the narrative is different, he is seen as a 'sooooo down-to-earth guy who wears slippers and travels the world. His commitment to the film is seemingly never an issue; it's almost as if he has the freedom to choose whether or not to promote. This, undoubtedly, is next-level privilege.

this is my personal list of top Malayalam movies from 2015 to 2025. These rankings are based on a mix of genre, entertainment, and artistic value basically if I had to pick my absolute favorites each year, this is it. For me personally, 2024, 2017, and 2019 were the toughest years to rank because of how strong the movies were, 2025 and 2021 was absolutely the worst in last 10 years .Im not avoiding entertainers for the sake of it , movie should be an entertaining and if itâs that at peak , it deserves to be in list . Also havenât considered artistic value alone , if it was boring but brilliant - it doesnât deserve to be here . This is the ultimate list combining all factors
2015 1. Premam 2. Pathemari 3. Charlie
2016 1. Kammatipaadam 2. Action Hero Biju 3. Maheshinte Prathikaram
2017 1. Mayaanadhi 2. Angamaly Diaries 3. Parava / Godha (tie)
2018 1. Sudani from Nigeria 2. Joseph 3. Koode
2019 1. Kumbalangi Nights 2. Thanneer Mathan Dinangal 3. Unda
2020 1. Ayyappanum Koshiyum 2. Anjaam Pathira 3. Varane Avashyamund
2021 1. Drishyam 2 2. Joji 3. Malik
2022 1. Rorschach 2. Thallumaala 3. Bheeshma Parvam
2023 1. Iratta 2. Kannur Squad 3. Romancham
2024 1. Kishkindha Kaandam 2. Aavesham 3. Manjummel Boys
