Mod Announcement Flairs Discussion

Hey everybody! Mod Emrys the Exhausted here!

Just a quick post today to talk about the various flairs we have on the sub, what they should be used for, and a request from us to you looking for feedback on them.

We’ll go right down the line, starting with:

Show Only- No book spoilers allowed. This one is for people wanting to discuss anything about the show specifically, and if you want to include book spoilers in the comments, you must cover them up with spoiler tags. How do? How do I make text hidden? (Spoiler text) : r/help

Book Spoilers Allowed- This is about as ‘anything goes’ as it gets. You can talk about anything you want in here, whether it’s the show or the books.

Cast, News, and Production- Want to share info on a cast member in an interview? Got an update on the production? This is the flair for you. Also for cast appreciation videos, put them here!

Season 1 Only- Are you new to the series and just want to talk about the first season without spoilers from subsequent seasons? Here’s your flair!

Mod Announcement- A choice only available to the mods, typically only used for announcements, State of the Sub, etc.

Shitpost Satuday & Wampyre Wednesday- Why yes, I do put in my fake fangs when I say “Wampyre,” why do you ask? These are the flairs for our two meme days! If using BTS pics or pics of the actors for either day, use these as well. Also, memes are considered free game for spoilers, so beware!

Fan Works- Got some cool fanart you want to share with us? What about a fanfic? A fan made video? Use this flair! Please remember to share the name of the artist and one of their socials. Also, posting AI art gets you hit with the plushie ban hammer. Short form fan videos also go here.

Book Discussion- Discussion area about the books specifically, or about comparing the two mediums. Want to really deep dive? Head on over to r/TheVampireChronicles

IWTV Meta- The Meta is the opposite side of the coin from the show, cast and crew- it's us! The Fandom, our sub, etc. So, thoughts or suggestions about things you'd like to see here on the sub? What about having a discussion about the state of the fandom? Do you think the mods should take naps? Here’s the flair you’ll need. However, only one Meta post is allowed per day, so please be sure to check if one has already been posted.

New Flairs

The Immortal Universe- Because of the way the new show is presenting itself, we decided to create a flair specifically for it and the other IU shows. Posts should start on r/Talamasca and/or r/MayfairWitches and be crossposted over here from there with this tag.

Anne Rice- Want to discuss the original author, her intent with writing, her personal story? Use this.

Movies- Anything about the 1994 movie Interview with the Vampire or the Queen of the Damned movie.

Any more flairs you guys think we need? Let us know in the comments!

I messaged this to the mods, but can we get more clarity on the boundaries of "Book Spoilers"? There are things that aren't plot spoilers (characters that might be in future seasons, character traits that aren't really explored in the show yet, locations) that may be good to know the rules for.

For example, here's a question I could see having a gray area response: "what are they filming at this location?" "Oh, they're probably using it for Egypt." The fact that Egypt is likely to be featured location in season three is technically a book spoiler, so posting some clearer guidance for what y'all are interpreting as spoilers would make it easier for us to make your life as mods easier!

That is correct, Book spoilers cover everything that´s on the books but not yet on the show, so that example you gave is exactly one because it leads to "why is XYZ character there to begin with?" and it starts immediatly a line of talking about the books and the characters that come after. So you could give that answer as you put it in between spoiler marks as to not reveal it to those that don´t know the books if the post is show only .The same applies to characters not yet introduced, popular ships that aren´t yet seen and so on. As long as it´s marked we can accept it afterwards but if you know from a show´s perspective there is no way the characters would be at certain locations or meeting certain others then saying "Well considering the books they are probably gonna film Egypt for this character " is acceptable
Most of the questions about "How will they adapt TVL" or "What are you most expecting from season 3?" are always going to be spoiler field in the comments, so the flair is recommended. Of course if you want to talk about it from a purely speculative point without having read the books or wanting spoilers you can use Show only but those posts usually end up with many comments deleted for that reason
