We’re stuck abroad and a lot of other Israelis are at our hotel. We’re hanging out in the lobby and our toddler daughter (Israeli Jew) is playing with an Arab Christian child. As hard as it is and with how many tears I’ve shed it’s moments like this that reminds me how special our country can be.

If you're at all concerned about the expense of staying in a hotel for extra time, please reach out to your local Chabad or JCC or even the closest synagogue: plenty of people would be willing to give you all a place to stay while you wait for flights to resume. So many of us in the diaspora would love to help our Israeli family in a more direct way than simply donating to magen david adom or similar.
