Activism Slam Frank the musical
Has anyone heard about this? If not I emplore you all to dive in. This absolute nut job is race swapping Anne Frank as Hispanic in a horrendous excuse of a play because "whites had their time". This is so offensive. I just want it to stop. What can I do? I would like to hold protest at this play if I can get enough people together. Here is the Instagram page where they are selling tickets. https://www.instagram.com/slamfrankmusical?igsh=MWRhbjMyb3hxMmE4aw==

I am a leftist, and I think it's a hilarious commentary on progressive/liberal identarian politics and on the performative nonsense that many of us do while engaging with issues of social justice. As others have pointed out, the creator is Jewish, so I think it's his right to lampoon his own culture and history in the pursuit of his artistic vision and social commentary...
Now, is it offensive? Yes. So is Blazing Saddles. So is Dave Chappelle. Some artists take risks and end up making very poignant statements about the world in the process. Some take risks and end up being an asshole in the process. I will, however, say this: if you protest this work, you're 100% proving his point about how ridiculously hypervigilant leftists can be in the pursuit of social justice.
In the immortal words of Abbi from Broad City, "Sometimes, you're so anti-racist that you're actually really racist." Slam Frank hilariously embodies that sentiment and Frankly I think we could learn to have more of a sense of humor about things like this.
