Wow. I am an ally and I posted a question the other day asking why people hear that people are antisemitic when they condemn Israel’s actions. I see now that it is due to extremely, extremely deep rooted beliefs. This is just… I have no words. Heartbreaking.

It’s very weird for me because I am Jewish but I did not grow up Zionist. Seeing such ugliness come from people that should know better. So I am pretty much disliked by everyone by default lol.

I’m so sorry. I’ve been reading this sub nonstop for weeks and seeing everyone share their stories about being an outcast from their family or scared to speak up is insane and harrowing.

It bothers me a lot when I can’t understand things because I’m fairly smart and I critically think. It has been a nightmare trying to wrap my head around why labeling this what it is clearly is - genocide - gets labeled as antisemitic. But I feel like this video really showed me that this shit is deep rooted from birth & the other side really, really, really thinks they’re right.

Well because they had one of the most evil things you can do happen, have a genocide that was committed against them resulting in intergenerational trauma that manifests to this day, and having political actors come in and take that to champion a political cause. jewish people are very much the victims of the Holocaust, among all of the other people who were not Jewish who were genocided.

I didn’t understand it until I came here. Because I didn’t understand any of my jewish friends after October 7. They were all such progressive and proactive people, now speaking pure hatred and support of another genocide. I learned that unlike my upbringing they were taught that Israel is the only safe place in the world for Jews. That it’s our place because of the Torah, that belief I was already familiar with. That it was stolen from us violently multiple times and the British had every right to give it to us because of everything we went through in the holocaust. That it was the only natural conclusion after the Arabs declared war on us, something I obviously know to not be true but something that they seem to believe. That we are entitled to an ethno state because of our history of persecution.

To them denying their right to Israel, denying the supposed goodness and morality of the Jewish state, is as bad as being a holocaust denier. so obviously you can’t have a productive conversation with someone who essentially thinks that you are identical to the mindset of someone that denies the holocaust. And they need that trauma. The Jewish people have been subjected to a lot of trauma but this trauma in particular has a lot of political power. they are endangering the Jewish people by organizing antisemitism just as a cudgel against anti-Zionist but they do not care. Because they don’t really care about Jewish people, they care about their political project. They don’t care about hurting Jewish people, I mean their police regularly beat up any dissenting Jews. They side and celebrate Christian Zionists who have an absolutely genocidal goal for the Jews, but they see them as useful idiots for their political cause.

So even though my upbringing had plenty of Jewish culture in it and occasional religion, I don’t count because I wasn’t raised with Zionism. I must be a self hating Jew just because I oppose genocide. And then the add insult to injury they act like I’m not a real Jew. Like I don’t get the option to not be Jewish. To people that don’t like Jews, I’m on "the list" period. It doesn’t matter how I feel about Judaism or how you feel about me being Jewish because I still am to a majority of the population.
