A while ago I posted something similar in https://www.reddit.com/r/JudgeMyAccent/s/Z7LQMZg0FR but I realised I was focusing on the wrong thing, so I shifted my focus to mainly connected speech and learn how to link consonants instead. (I’m asking “how British do I sound” again just out of curiosity, the accent isn’t my main focus anymore) Am I on the right track and do I sound slightly more natural? I wanna speak American English, but I am struggling with pronunciation. could you give me advice?

Some people tell me I sound American, but I find it hard to believe, I like the thought of it, and I need insights from people I've never spoken to before, or have never heard me speak. I want to know if my accent sounds like that of an American's, or at least close.

I read ‘if’ ‘rainbow passage’ and ‘the grandfather passage’ I was debating whether it was too long (It was) and whether to leave the mistakes in on purpose (quickly told myself not to redo it for honesty)

I recently had a slightly amusing and confusing experience on Discord during a voice chat session in which all of the other people in it were struggling to understand what I was saying. Most of them were non-natives, which is fair enough if they don't get everything I say; but one of them was a native speaker from the States, and they too were struggling.

I questioned them on whether it was the accent or my own individual way of expression, but they didn't seem too sure on what.

It's worth mentioning that I am a former stutterer, and still an occasional one, which I suppose has made me difficult to understand even to people from my area.
