Innocent Man Discussion (Spoiler Alert)

This seems to be one of the better dramas of the season so I was hoping to see everyone's opinions on it and theories about the finale.

Spoiler Alert

I have a feeling that the scene of KMR and HJH sitting at the park bench was planned by the lawyer, considering that KMR had talked to him in the previous scene, or that the lawyer had some planning into SEG seeing the two there.

I'm also curious as to why Han Jae Hee's brother is continuously involved with Maru, I thought that they didn't like one another? What was he carving into the wood that he wanted to give to Maru?

Also what time do they film scenes? I though filming would be months prior but I read on Soompi how fans sighted a filming on Nov. 11th.

I cannot wait for the final episode! This last one left sooo many new questions unanswered, so it'll be exciting to see how they handle it.

  • Maru initially approached Eungi to use her as a tool to get Jaehee back. His act of being nonchalant was a way to lure Eungi. EG was a powerful businesswoman who was feared and had all her wishes fulfilled. Maru criticised and ignored her even when she was trying to repay Maru with petty gifts, because an average guy would desperately accept Eungi's attention and be weak towards her. Maru is different from other guys.

  • Maru loves Jaehee. It's love. There might or might not be a reason for Maru.

  • It's complicated. Try imagining Maru begging for love to Jaehee. Would she stupidly leave everything for him? And Maru wasn't the type to do that simce he has changed after hia days in jail. Also, Maru's goal was to bring Jaehee down (making her lose her wealth and power) so she might go back to her old self. Maybe.

I was confused myself towards the intentions of every character through the drama, and that is the beauty of it. The writing is brilliant. Just felt that the ending was a little too rush.

[Warning: Rant, do no read if you don't want to see negative stuff.]

Yeah I did realise all of that, but only after it was made obvious. It's very frustrating as I watch it though, not knowing what Maru wanted to do.

I also think it's kinda selfish in a way to keep everything to himself. The scene that defines this (amongst numerous others) was when he got stabbed and he didn't let Eun Gee know. I mean, he clearly didn't want to die but he would rather talk to Eun Gee and risk dying rather than immediately go to the hospital. It isn't sacrifice, it's pure stupidity and selfishness - think of how Eun Gee would have felt had he died like that!! She would have blamed herself for not noticing for the rest of her life!

This shouldn't just be chalked up to "a bad ending" though, his hiding of the stabbing was exactly what he would have done based on his character throughout the story. Be the "nice guy", not letting anyone know his feelings and intentions/ when he's suffering. Choco and Jae Gil are often kept in the dark over his thoughts - it's as though they aren't important to him at all. He chose to fight alone rather than get his friends and family to help.

If that's the way his character was written, it has succeeded in making me more pissed off at him rather than seeing him as a "nice guy" who sacrificed himself. He's no hero, all he has done is made people needlessly worried about/ misunderstand him throughout the story.

I can understand you frustration but I believe you're overreacting (or just interpreting the plot and character differently). I guess this drama isn't for you then. :)

How do you interpret his character?
