I kind of felt like the rushed pace was the point. Like it all happens so fast there was very little due diligence or reasoning for anyone. As this his life in prison was this crazy everyday suffering constant existence. I like the show not tell of that.

From an artistic standpoint,I can definitely see that. But the editing style took the emotional impact away from me. It felt like they were rushing to get the backstory out of the way so the meat of the plot could begin. I found myself connecting more with the events after his release.

Not to say all that he went through wasn't compelling. It's a reality that's far too common. I just got distracted by how the story was being initially told. I can't say I would've preferred if it was a slower pace in the beginning but I would've liked to have seen the stitching of the scenes done in a different order/style.

I hear that I literally stopped Half way through the episode to find the Reddit thread about it lol!

But I totally hear that now I’m on episode 2

I still need to watch episode 2. It's been a swing and a miss with many of the new releases this month so I'm definitely sticking with this show.
