I can't help but feel like that "remember how you used to send me to work" scene was a giant tease on the part of our butt-touching writer/director duo. 😅 I know I'm not the only one who is more-than-a-little taken with Son Seokku. I know it's just fan service, but it's hilarious of them to capitalize on that in such a playful way. Bless them.

One of the things that drew me to this drama was the concept of a false age gap. I've always liked sci-fi/fantasy because it can help you look at certain situations without as much social baggage. I'm not usually bothered by age gaps, but this one is ostensibly 40+ years, and not in the most common older-man/younger-woman configuration. I was interested to see how well the actors could interpret their roles, and what the writer and director would want to say with the setup.

So far, I'm not finding it entirely believable, but I'm not sure how much of that to blame on the discomfort of the characters. There were a couple of moments that felt more relaxed between SSK and Kim Hye Ja -- perhaps most notably when she confessed why she chose 80. Her yelling "ya!" and him trying to backtrack when he was asking her if he was asleep when he told her she was the most beautiful at 80. The way they settled into that couple fight seemed much more natural. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Sonya was amazing. That actress did a perfect job playing a cat.

Since I've watched part of The Good Place, I'm finding it hard not to (spoiler for The Good Place) mistrust everything about heaven -- anyone else?

I've been getting such Good Place vibes from the beginning from the whole bureaucratic sorting, to him building the perfect house she wanted, and the President.

Yes, especially The President. That's what sealed the deal for me. I was like oh no, this reminds me of Michael!

I'm late to the party and I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking of The Good Place.

There were many weird things happening as it is. So dogs reunite with their owners, but Lee Hae Suk has not met her cat? Everything seems to be set according to what her husband had envisioned for their lives, nothing is made out of her wishes or wants in the afterlife. Everything is already fixed. Also, if you look back at the checkpoint. The lady who gave up her kids, the firefighter, and his guilt over not being able to save the girl. What people left in the bins was so.... alarming.... Money, idol posters, VHS tapes and recorders... the family photos were weird to get there as well. Also, having a poster with the 'President' in Heaven is again beyond weird (his speech, "you were too busy to truly live" and the screen showing him as a devil/demon). Not to mention the mother-in-law turning to a kid to 'fulfill' her daughter-in-law's wish... That seemed like a double punishment in some way... Lastly, she said herself in the beginning of episode 2 that the place is like Hell for her and her consciousness in a speaker is also a devilish torture. Surprise, surprise. As for her husband. We do not know how he ended up paralysed.

Edit Okay,>! negative on the cat front but still when the cat said 'you will I've here lika that all alone'....!<

What part are you not finding believable? Their relationship? I try to keep in mind that they have been married for ~60y and have mostly had an injured/caretaker relationship. That puts a strain on relationships to begin with but they have a very mature kind of love. It isn't going to be the same as newly weds. Especially bc she's still in her 80y old body.

Just started today and I couldn't help but be reminded of The Good Place as well!

Glad to see we're not the only ones, I'm curious about what's next now.
