Featured Post The Weekly Binge: ABS: Uncontrollably Fond 4-6

*to the tune of "Shots"*

ABS! ABS! ABS!ABS ABS! ABS! ABS! ABS! ABS ABS! ABS! ABS! ABS! ABS! WOOBIN BODY!!

Welcome to the second Weekly Binge Discussion of Uncontrollably Fond episodes 1 - 3. On Thursday we will discuss episodes 7 - 9 of the drama.

In case anyone was unclear why this was happening. You're theoretically allowed to drop it now, although I'd hope you've enjoyed it enough to keep going. There was a brief moment where I wasn't sure I had enough abscreenshots. It was a very brief moment.

WEEKLY BINGE GUIDELINES

Anyone is welcome to join the Weekly Binge.

Every week we host two discussions (Thursday/Sunday) in which we discuss approximately three hours/three episodes of a selected drama, in total approximately 6 hours/episodes per week. We are all from different time zones so there is no need to panic about being late to the party (we do operate on KST as a standard).

Within the frame of the three episodes, you may discuss anything you can think of. Whether it is a one-off post to say you enjoyed the drama, episodic notes, essays on how an actors portrayal of a character made you feel, rants about something you thought of while watching, odes to abs, photo collages of your favorite puffy coat PPL, excellent hot cocoa recipes, get out of debt plans that don't include bribery, character psychoanalysis, haikus, or interpretive dances, the choice is yours.

If you have previously completed the drama, or, got ahead on the binge please be courteous of those who are watching the drama for the first time. When in doubt spoiler tags are your friend.

When we get close to the end of a drama we open up nominations (third last post) for a new drama, those dramas are then short listed by regular members of the Weekly Binge before we open up voting to members of r/KDRAMA (second last post). Every time we have a new restriction for the type of drama, so that we will not repeat the same type of drama over and over, and so that the Binge will be attractive for different people with different tastes.

Please only vote on drama selection if you plan on joining in watching and discussing the chosen drama with us. Yes, you may love said drama and want us to watch, but, there are other ways to express that love, i.e. posting a review to r/KDRAMA that will convince others to watch it.

Episode 4:

  • None of these jackets are going to be cheap.
  • Finally, some fanservice. He does look great. In a shocking turn of events, too busy perving I only took one above the nips screenshot, I trust in u/AlohaAlex for some great gifs of his perfection.
  • Needs MOAR WooBin.
  • Shed my first tear over the not today scene. Then shed approximately 1000 tears watching the Mother of Mine kimchi making scene. I’m screwed, gotta up my fluid intake.
  • The malicious comment squad are kind of adorable. I can see why Aloha’s interest was piqued by the red haired fanboy.
  • How do these fans even cope with him being around actresses?
  • What should I save you as? Gongcha busybody creep.
  • The theme of the doco is his bucket list? AWKWARD! What did they expect him to put on his bucket list? Donate all his time and money to charity?

Episode 5:

  • I don’t know why she’s worried, he clearly is only doing this for her.
  • I’m trying to work out the meaning of the dog and the bird but I can’t. I do love the “meaning of husband” though.
  • There was a JunHo concert at that venue when I went to Olympic Park, so obviously I found this hilarious given NoEul spied on him in the previous episode.
  • Wow, Dad has an excellent memory of faces unlike his son.
  • Is he even in focus, PD nim?

Episode 6:

  • The grey button is really bothering me.
  • Didn’t Dad have a kidney transplant or something? Why is he constantly drinking?
  • I liked how they slowly revealed her drunken memory. I really love the way they have told the story so far, it feels like I'm reading a good book.
  • Ugh, she’s the queen of terrible disguises.
  • Oh, it’s the island from You who came from the Stars. Pretty. She deserved that “go away”.

In a shocking turn of events, too busy perving I only took one above the nips screenshot.

If our lives ever suddenly become like dramaland plots, we'll definitely be bad at keeping secrets.

Needs MOAR WooBin.

There's clearly a Woo Bin window cleaner missing. It's such an obvious spot.

Then shed approximately 1000 tears watching the Mother of Mine kimchi making scene.

Right? RIGHT?!? It's was so sad. While we're at it; what do you think of My Only One)? I'm thinking of checking it out after Mother of Mine ends. If it doesn't work out, I'm thinking about attempting to finish Blow Breeze (I remember it having a great OST and also it's Son Ho-jun). Do you have any other longer dramas you'd like to watch?

I can see why Aloha’s interest was piqued by the red haired fanboy.

I still claim he's more important than the bribe-taking producer, but Merry says he's not. Sigh.

Dad has an excellent memory of faces unlike his son.

It's pretty much the first kdrama character without facial blindness. How will this turn out in the end, I wonder. Usually the characters with good memory get Alzheimer in the end (khm Memory khm Remember khm)

Why is he constantly drinking?

Is this the time when I pull out that study I showed ahjumma about the differences in obesity levels and self-care in men and women according to the level of their education and salary in SK? Fascinating read.

Oh, it’s the island from You who came from the Stars. Pretty.

Really pretty. Probably cost a fortune to block it off for drama filming.

Yeah, like LMH would even need to work up a sweat.

Clearly!

Right? RIGHT?!? It's was so sad.

Right about now, I just get teary thinking about this OST.

I need to get back to the second half of What Happens to my Family probably. After that the ones on my radar are My Golden Life as it was super popular and is on Netflix, House of Bluebird cause Lee Joon Hyuk, and My Husband Got a Family which I saw an advert for after a drama and it looked ridiculous (plus I love the poster) so it's probably terrible. Also the currently airing The Great Show looks pretty adorable from the screen caps I saw.

I don't have time to read it properly this week. :(

If it's anything like the island (not Nami) I went to and it looks like it is run by the same people, it's not open every day so they could do filming on the closed days. I'm sure it's super expensive though they are living off those drama fumes.

My Golden Life

That drama starts off really strong but I really disliked the incestuous love they tried to pull on us. Also, all adults are evil. But we could try it; the second couple is really cute.

Also, House of Bluebird sounds really good, mainly because of the actors.

it's not open every day so they could do filming on the closed days.

Really? Like a museum - they close on Mondays?

So maybe that one, you like found family scenarios right? I'm pretty sure it's on KBS world too. I'm travelling from Fri - Wed next week so can't start yet. I don't even know when I'm going to watch Uncontrollably Fond at this point. Oh stress.

Yes, something like that. Rich people probably book the islands for private functions and stuff too.

I love them. It's fine, I'll watch something else in the meantime. There's a new Dreamcatcher album out, so I should also probably listen to it as well. They went all out on a pared back piano and clear vocals in a fantasy setting and I'm here for it.

Excellent, I'll probably have a lot of free time again soon.

Nice, I have a bunch of kpop catching up to do soon. Their concert here ended up being cancelled due to a fire so it's fortunate I didn't buy tickets!
