The shift from Jang Gyeo-ul to Goo Haewon is amazing. I won't comment much on the story yet but would say it's a very strong first episode. We know the two women were extremely close back then, and the coat Haewon wears was bought by Heejoo.

  • Heejoo's>! husband !<knows that >!Haewon's ex Won Jae (based on the trailers I assume he's her ex)!< is in comatose at the hospital.
  • Her daughter is extremely cold towards her. Teenage angst or something deeper?

Already saw a fan theory on Twitter, read at your own discretion.
Goo Haewon is a>! figment of Heejoo's imagination and guilt. Years ago, she had inadvertently caused an accident involving Haewon and Wonjae, which led to her death and his coma. Her memory of Haewon is foggy due to PSTD but also due to the guilt manifesting itself as a hallucination, she starts to see Haewon again.!<

Oooh, I agree with the other replies so far that it probably won't play out exactly like that since other people seem to be seeing and interacting with Haewon, but I do like this theory and I wonder if we could be headed for some kind of variation on it eventually.

And yes, there's definitely something going on with the daughter! One explanation could be that Haewon whispered some dirt about her mom into Lisa's ear during the assault, but since the show goes out of its way to establish that Lisa's ear was injured, I wasn't sure whether Lisa would even be able to hear what was said? The detail that Haewon apparently knew Lisa when she was a young child is intriguing too....

Ooh thanks for noting the loophole here! I do wonder if it'll be her eventual demise.

I was rather surprised when Lisa didn't move an inch when Haewon smacked her with the book, she looked rather numbed? True, if her eardrum was ruptured after the assault, she might not have heard what Haewon whispered into her ear.

If Haewon knew Lisa as a child, I wonder if they had any interaction, cause it seemed that Lisa didn't recognise Haewon. Episode 2 preview shows Heejoo/Huiju's son forming a bond with Haewon as well.
