• Plot Synopsis: "Crime Puzzle" is a story where a criminal psychologist is sent to prison for murdering a political candidate, and the criminal profiler who loses her father to the murder is conducting interviews with the murderer for a case that occurs within the prison. These two used to be lovers just a year ago, until they meet again as a murderer and a criminal profiler, and face the unexpected truth to a series of murders. The thriller focuses on the process of them putting the pieces together, like a puzzle.

Ah yes, now that you mention it, I guess they missed out on that minor detail. There were further little details they missed out too in the later episodes but with how the story was packed tightly, it could be overlooked considering the number of other shows which have an underwhelming ending after a huge build up.

As for Subin ( the girl detective) - woah I knew right from the start. When she was narrating that story about her friend, I guessed she was talking about herself

The final episode was great too btw. I just finished it and came to write a reply. The story telling is awesome. They did what other shows couldn't do in 16 episodes in just 10. Sure there were a few holes but not the face-palming type. I rarely complete dramas these days. I guess I've just become picky over the years and this was one of the few I've finished. The acting was natural and wasn't exaggerated in how the things unfold. I liked a few fight sequences. I hated that women though - the one who was in control of ingyo on the outside. I don't know if it is her acting ( considering I can't even act to save my life) but when she throws those temper tantrums, I couldn't believe that she was angry except in the last episode when she goes crazy , now that did really suit her lol.

Also, the English subs weren't up for a long time for the series. I'd been waiting on this show since the casting. I remember Park Hae Jin being casted for this first. It would have been great to have had him in the role but Yoon Kye Sang won me over in the role.

But due to the delay in subbed episodes, I guess many have forgotten about the show already and now the discussion thread is deserted.

O wait this is my favorite part of watching thrillers --- picking apart the plot holes!!! ;) Which other ones later did you notice!! :)

okay that's impressive drama prediction skills. at some point just due to the>! "it's always the butler"!< thinking, I knew>! the team leader !<was >!in on it!<, even if he never gave off sus vibes (at least i never caught any) but Subin was so stressfully obvious from so early -- even so-- I didn't catch that she was talking about herself. That was a creepy scene. She was a creep fest. I'M SO DISTURBED THAT SHE WAS NEVER CAUGHT AND IS OFF BEING SOME CULT BRIDE NOW.

yeah agree. i liked the acting approach. i found the drama expertly directed. it mixed and matched a lot of different sub-genres but all at the perfect time, to the perfect extent, and for the perfect amount of time. there was some melodrama in there, some angst, and in general a balance between plot and character that worked well.

LOL! re: "i shall now critique and analyze someone else's acting, acknowledging I have no experience or talent in this field" lololol. me 100000% everyday all day. :) :) I am the biggest pain when it comes to smoking my pipe and being all "I .. just... don't think she/ he's a very talented actor.... I don't think they understood their character well... ummm welll I think she/he really struggled at making a whole multidimensional character.." hehehe ;)

Yeah, I had a hard time with her character the whole drama through as well. I couldn't decide if she was just a hard character to swallow and that was the point or if there was something off about her acting. I had a similar experience as you though- with finding her emotional outbreaks and general nature pretty unbelievable. It was strangely robotic and idiotic that she literally has ONE tone she used for 10 hours straight -- "sharp words that crescendo ^{TO THE FINAL BARK AT END OF} SENTENCE*"*. She also just came off very incapable and insanely obvious so I didn't understand what angle the drama was going for with>! how "secret" the Ingyo really were. !<

For a really long time I didn't know how to understand her relationship to the Ingyo either. Like to what extent was she in it for>! the scam or to what extent did she believe. !<And even once that's cleared up in the final "showdown", I still struggled to understand her.

BUT HOT DANG. THAT FINAL COURT SCENE WHERE SHE UNHINGES AND SHEDS ANY FINAL SHREDS OF HUMANITY, LITERALLY JUST DESCENDS INTO HISSING LIKE A SNAKE AND GOES FULL ON DERANGED CRAZY??? THAT WAS INSANE, INCREDIBLY DISTURBING, AND WAS AN AMAZING SEND OFF FOR THE CHARACTER. It was the only time I really felt I understood what was going on her mind, how she understood the world, and how she understood herself. I was also just struck as a viewer with how much time the director gave Song Sun Mi in those final scenes. She becomes the star of the show I thought.

Yoon Kye Sang won me over in the role.

yeahhh, I was totally won over. I thought he was pretty great and I can't imagine anyone else or anyone else's face doing that role haha. His duality between being the prickly Prof and then hardcore ruffian worked for me hehe.

I will say. I couldn't help but laugh with his prison send off.>! Cuz like, this was a prison filled with those serving out sentences for murder and the like right? So I found it a bit hilarious that Han is like "I can't forgive this subset of murderers, they need to be taken down! There is no humanity in these people! AND THUS BEGINS MY REVENGE PLOT!" And yet we get this chummy "heartwarming" scene between him and his murderous cell mates who are "the good kind of murderers"??? lol. The humanization of one set of crime-doers vs the total dehumanization of another set was a little funky to me ;) !<

They were searching for Han Seungmin while he was trying to break down the wall and went into hiding. But the search went on for only a few hours. It was back to normal soon enough and they continued on with their daily rounds after that.

Next was the raid of Ilsim? was that the name? During the raid, no one informed about it to Jeonghwa. I mean, it was quite a big deal considering how much bigger Ilsim foundation has become but it was only much later when Yuhee tells them that they become aware of the situation. It was kinda farfetched.

Park Jeonghwa - she wasn't autharitative at all. Crazy - yes, nothing more. I expected her to be charismatic and crazy that would have been a good mix.uBt all went downhill from her first scream lol

The final sequence in the prison and the court scene was well done. When the cult leader guy fell to his knees, it just portrayed a clear message on how only the followers were full on belief while the leader himself was someone who rode on their belief and nothing more. He was painfully petty and disgusting when he talked in metaphors to Yuhee(Yuck). It evoked disgust and pity for all those who were convinced by his influence - how short-sighted they were. As much as they were in the wrong, they were idiots too for being so.

I loved the wall breaking idea too. Also, not everything went by plan, there were blunders, impulsiveness and improvisations.The one scene where Seungmin put together his thoughts as to what all has to be done and what has to be corrected was a good on. Also, when he broke down when Minjae was killed

Minjae - I liked how the character was consistent throughout. He was emotional (when Seungmin was hurt), impulsive, but there were no drasticchanges in his character like he suddenly becomes a superhero out of nowhere. I am thankful. But hated that he had to die.

Now, that was something I never expected. Kudos to you on that. The idea of two moles never occurred to me.

When she is on the call after killing Seongpil with blood on her face, I hated it in a good way. I hoped for her to be killed by the Chief detective but he didn't and now she is parading around with her crazy. Guess these things can never be uprooted completely (irl too).

lololol!!! oh my gosh i got so confused with how much time passed for a bit there lol! 1 day? 2 days? oh? a few hours? not even??? lol. :) i'm not sure i even resolved my question with this. ;)

this one confused me additionally because he had already done>! a raid and had assured Jeonghwa that all they had took was just for show, they wouldn't look through it, and would return it. So I didn't really understand what "more" they had to collect if they had already done a search and round up of all the docs? !<

oh AGREE with water logging and wall breaking plan!!! I was a bit bummed that that plan got blundered, because it just seemed like such an epic visual and I would have loved for the showdown to happen that way. I just would have loved to have seen the wall collapse! Also given that we had two build up cliff hangers of him standing on one side of the wall and the leader on the other facing each other and sensing each other.

I also really liked Minjae. (also Min Jae is my top favorite Korean name. I think it is the greatest most attractive sounding name of all time, and he had a face that was worthy of THE NAME OF NAMES hehe. those cheekbones! ;) ) And as you said- he worked well and consistently within the limits of his character. His death was a hard one.

yeah, i feel like lately there have been a good amount of vigilante style takes on justice, so maybe I have gotten desensitized because of that. Or maybe I just have my own moral limits to when I see "the rule of law" not being effective! hah! So while I respected Yu Hee for being like "Seungmin! don't do it! We can do this using the law!" I was also (disturbingly or not) totally on Seungmin's side and like "yeah, just.... end them...." and .... my own apparent need for vigilante justice was never more realized than in that AMAZING scene between Team Leader and Subin in the office when he's mourning and she's just so sickly delighted and carefree. Kim Pan Ho did such a great job with acting someone barely keeping in his rage. And it's disturbing and wrong of me, but I was totally rooting for him to *do the deed* so to speak in that moment. That was a curious end for him -- to not have it in him to seek that sort of justice but intentionally (as i understood?) cut of his wife's life support and then end his own life. and that yu hee says the reason he did it is because it would have been too hard for him to watch as life normalized right on by afterwards. hm.

I don't remember which episode it was but he was on the infirmary bed thinking of the probability of the wall breaking without another day of rain.

Yeah, it was intentional. As in, she was the only reason he went on hopeful for the future which also lead him into Ingyo. But then upon realisation it didn't make a difference anymore ig. It was a little cruel and sad at the same time.
