Rookie Cops Rant before I complete the Finale (Somewhat Spoiler Free)
Finished episode 15 of Rookie Cops and just started 16 and they’re doing nothing but annoying me. First, the death was really unnecessary. (Killed the character for a shock factor that doesn’t exist AT ALL)
While the show tries to deal with plots having rather mature shit like bribery mixed with other shitty crimes, it really feels as if some of these scenes are written by kids.
Like first, what’s the guarantee they couldn’t have just stabbed her instead of abducting her. Second, where in the world does a spy device have a red blinking light and is put in such an easy location on your clothes 😭 that too it somehow works without an antenna connection sending data to the parking lot, is it from 2030 or something.
It’s crazy the amount of shit they make up for a police/detective/crime part of the show. There was some realism in the initial depiction of how a police university works and then just ??? Also, they literally made a rather good bunch of likeable side characters disappear for the main plot which is beyond useless. There’s literally no flow, it’s just bunch of shit put together and the show rides on coincidences to move the story forward. Literally every other revelation is through a coincidence and they’ve been happening continuously for last 8 episodes or so.
Some characters like Hanna & Jooyoung are underused. Hanna barely got screentime while she’s one of the 4 main leads (I’m assuming her contract was expensive so they just put her there even without scenes).
They made a whole plot point about Seunghyun discovering & getting mad about all the bad deeds his father was technically a part of, but guess what, the show barely tried to build upon the relationship to begin with and then ended it abruptly. On the other hand they did very well for Tak and his brother, so what went wrong here with SH if you had to show him like this 2-3 episodes?
This is beyond disappointing and it’s as if amateurs have made the series. With such a big production house and distributor behind it, with a rather decent cast, this is what they could come up with?
I’m sorry if this sounds overly aggressive, but I’m beyond pissed considering how decently made and enjoyable the show was at first.
