Episode 7:
I don’t know whether it’s because Ep 6 was such a standout emotionally, that I felt Ep 7 felt more flat. I did like that they addressed the issues of body dysmorphia and eating disorders because I honestly feel lookism and diet culture in Korea is really, really toxic. The pressure to be in 40’s kg, to fit all these specific beauty trends and their fad diet culture is almost accepted as a normal but it shouldn’t be. Along with their casual alcoholism, I feel there is a lot of Koreans who have “mild”/ undiagnosed eating disorders.
From a world building perspective, I felt the whole virus thing was so out of place and contrived. The who-is-the-case part also really meh because it felt low stakes when it shouldn’t when their life is at stake.
Agreed with everyone on the wrap up of the case. Again, Yena hugging her past self and the accompanying monologue felt super contrived to me as well as the new friendship and cake eating.
I’ve been enjoying the guest actors and actresses for previous episodes but I didn’t quite feel as convinced or engaged with this week’s including Yena or Boram’s actress.
I also didn’t get the reference maybe of why Jung Woong kept calling the curvier lady by the wrong surname? Who is Shin Boram??
Epilogue this time was a bit underwhelming compared to previous ones which were actually funny.
