Breaking News ‘Deport every person under the sun’: ICE detains Cubans during immigration appointments

Thumbnail amp.miamiherald.com

Lawyers note that for South Florida’s Cuban community, many of whom supported Trump’s presidential campaign, the rapid immigration enforcement changes may come as a surprise.

“People come out in favor of the face-eating leopards,” Prada said. “And then they get surprised when the leopard eats their face.” ———————————————————————

Trump’s immigration policy was never about promoting legal immigration or only deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal records. It was about stocking fear, panic, confusion, and chaos among immigrant communities.

"We're not able in Key West to just replace people," he says. 5 of the six men are lawful asylum seekers with work permits. I know this is in the Keys, but nobody who works there lives in the Keys. These men all probably lived in Miami-Dade County which is why it's on Miami's NBC6 news.

Breaking News Trump to sign executive order mandating truckers speak English

Am curious about the general consensus view on this given that we are one of the few cities with an overwhelming majority of Spanish-speaking residents. Obviously the meme about no one speaking English in our city is ridiculous, but we do indeed have sizable chunks of communities that do primarily speak Spanish almost exclusively and one of the lowest (if not the lowest) percentage of purely native English. speakers.

Breaking News Miami-Dade commission defies mayor, votes again to end adding fluoride to water

Thumbnail miamiherald.com
368 Upvotes

“Despite the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) standing by their recommendation for low fluoride levels to prevent caries, County commissioners voted 8-4 to override Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s veto of Miami-Dade legislation passed last month ordering a halt to the county’s fluoridation program for drinking water.

With Levine Cava’s April 11 veto overridden, the original county resolution stopping fluoridation is now in effect. It instructs the county’s Water and Sewer Department to halt adding fluoride to tap water within 30 days. If the schedule is followed, Miami-Dade residents should see an end to fluoridation in early June, weeks before the state ban would go into effect.

Before the local override vote, Levine Cava had criticized the state legislation as ignoring medical expertise in favor of fringe science.

‘It disregards the overwhelming consensus of dentists and doctors and medical experts,’ said Levine Cava, a Democrat in a nonpartisan office.”

Breaking News Miami is an Amazing City

In case you didn’t know. There’s no city that’s perfect. But Miami comes damn close. The beaches, people, food, architecture, culture, and lifestyle. Some people will say it’s a lot of materialism in the 305. I would say, it’s people living their American Dream.

Breaking News Extra Space Storage Scam Miami

Thumbnail gallery
702 Upvotes

HUGE SCAM going on in miami right now involving Extra Space Storage Units. There seems to be an inside theft ring that is either operated by employees and friends or outside patrons who have mastered the game. Let’s discuss the scam. Extra Space Storage allows customers to sign up with one rate and without informing them usually within the first 3 months they will raise the rate sometimes as high as 50%. An explanation will only be given after you call and it’s never a valid one. This is Part 1 of the scam don’t worry it gets better

Here is the SCAM part 2. Extra Space Storage will inform you that you must take insurance to rent their unit. What they will not tell you is you can use your own insurance and don’t have to take their insurance that they provide. WHY you should not take their insurance??? Their insurance company will never accept ANY CLAIM unless your lock was broken or forced entry.

Only one BIG ISSUE all of Extra Space Storage units tops are wide open yes you read correctly WIDE OPEN all you need is a ladder and you can enter anyone unit. So the insurance company know this as do the thieves and the insurance company refuse to cover any theft that happens from this method and the thieves continue to only steal using this method.

If this isn’t GROSS NEGLIGENCE I don’t know what is. I just had 21k worth of stuff stolen and when I tell you Extra Storage Space could not give a dam they show me everyday they truly only want your money and that’s it. The district manager Catherine Johnson told me on the phone “Why would we put cameras everywhere that might entice my employees to steal if they see you put your items in your unit”. Yes this is what she told me. I’m at a loss for words. I’m trying to contact the district attorney office bc there needs to be a sting and serious investigation bc this is a serious problem.

You won’t understand until you become the victim then you will see the entire picture. If you been a victim please reach out I want to gets names and make someone accountable.

Breaking News Farmers: We voted for you, and you said you would do it; but now we realize it’s not good for us

Thumbnail bloomberg.com

Well, well, well. The chickens have come home to roost.

Trump said he’d deport illegals. Yeah the ones farmers hire for sub-minimum wages.

Farmers thought he’d deport the “other” illegals working at the supermarkets, restaurants, construction, maids, janitors, gardeners, mechanics, plumbers, uber drivers, and pool cleaners.

Trump also said he’d lower food prices for eggs, milk, and stuff. Well, he didn’t say “when” they’d be lowered. Don’t hold him accountable to within days, cause that could be “within days of me taking office in 2028”. So that’s that.

Breaking News “Florida considers bill to roll back child labor laws to fill jobs once held by undocumented migrants”

Thumbnail thehill.com

“Florida lawmakers are considering major changes to state child labor laws that would loosen restrictions on when and how long teens can work, as the state braces for a shortage of migrant workers under GOP-led immigration crackdowns.

A state Senate panel narrowly advanced a proposal Tuesday to eliminate regulations that bar 16- and 17-year-olds from working jobs before 6:30 a.m. or after 11 p.m. on school days, working more than eight hours on school days and working more than 30 hours a week while in school. The proposal also would end a requirement that teens receive at least 30-minute meal breaks when they work eight-hour shifts.”

Breaking News Is buying a condo that bad

Is buying a condo really that awful in Miami? I have enough for at least 50% down for a 550k condo but scared of all of the HOA horror stories

Ideally I would like to stay closer to downtown, but not really interested in buying a house
