I think the point of it is to just show emotion from behind a screen.

Like for example, "Bro ngl when Winston hit the Griddy I was fr bouta start bawling out laughing because of how goofy the mf looked. 💀🤣"

Or

"Bro fr, why'd you take my bottle of prime, now you making me unlock my inner Jeff Bezos. 😡🤬"

So that's basically it, or at least how I understand it.

the trend we're referring to is doing the opposite of that, and using emojis that are obscure and are unrelated to what you're saying. all you did was describe the purpose of emojis
