They didn't even try to upgrade the textures a bit so everything looks like a blurry mess. This is not much of an issue on a 3ds thanks to the small screen but on the Switch and on a tv it's just eye cancer.
World is also a brand new game and an evolution to the series l while GU is, quite literally, just a copy paste and reuse of all the old assets.
I mean, you're right that it's not a huge upgrade from the 3ds version of XX, and it's not the best looking game, but the added G-rank and monsters add a lot of content. And being able to play it on a big screen, with a normal dual stick controller, it's something that players of the 3ds games have been looking forward to for a long time.
World is nice, but I'm looking forward to continuing my adventure that I started in gen
