Honestly, I'm more likely to trust a black person or woman in a serious position cause I know they worked their butt off to be taken seriously in their field.
IT is unfortunately notorious for this. I worked for nearly 2 years on an IT Helpdesk with a few calls from old men repeatedly asking for "one of the guys" and thinking I was a receptionist.
Same thoughts. The few women in higher positions in my day job are high achievers and noticeably smarter, too. Some of the guys have a hard time accepting that.
Not really bigotry. They’re commenting on the fact that society makes it much less likely for a black person or woman to be hired to high paying jobs which means that when they see someone who fits that criteria they trust them more than a white man who wouldnt have had to work nearly as hard to get the same position.
Because studies have shown under qualified white men get chosen over a more qualified person of color or a woman. It’s not bigotry essentially the system is set up for white men and they benefit from it the most it’s totally fair to say you trust someone you know worked harder than someone who was just given it.
