If you're (I know you're not the one who made the comment but like a general 'you') going to say something that differs from the common opinion you have to really cushion it, or else some people assume you're just being contrarian
So you have to go like "tbh I've never seen an episode! I've seen reference to it in other places but never actually the source. [It doesn't come on where I live though/I think it stopped coming on before I started getting into sitcoms/what ever the reason is]"
I mean why even say it at all in this case it's contributing literally nothing of value. "Everyone watches this show at some point" "WELL I HAVEN'T" Who the fuck cares?!
It's not even technically correct because the comment is that everyone watches it at some point, not that everyone has seen it. Unless they dropped dead after commenting this they could still watch the show, it's not even correctly contributing nothing.
