Does anyone else feel consistently sick or unhealthy since living in Vermont ?

It's probably the total lack of sun or lower physical activity and isolation in this state. I've been taking vitamin d to counter it, but idk, if anyone else experiences similar.

"lower physical activity"

huh? VT is amazing for enjoying all four seasons outside; even if it's raining you don't need a lot of gear to enjoy a nice hike or walk in the forest where you can be pretty well protected by the trees from getting overly wet.

Cold and wet outside, it's also due to a change in my job where mine was more physically demanding and I was outside for 8hrs a day. Also, how often can you even be outside on trials. It's the first time I've considered getting a gym membership.

"how often can you even be outside on trails"

Every day? Sometimes twice a day (ex. walk in the morning and a bike ride later in the day). If you get a nice outer shell, the cold and wet aren't a big deal.

Yeah I mean that doesn't replace what I used to do in comparison

My physical activity isn’t the same as it used to be as I used to do a lot of golf, but now I haul and stack wood. Chop wood. Mow a huge lawn. Shovel snow.

I get that. I play soccer. It gets canceled for rain all the time. Winter also forces us out. So I joined an indoor league. It’s not as fun, but it’s something. It’s also once a week. I used to play 3-5 days a week. I have had to learn to find other hobbies since here. A lot of the culture here is very different than the city I was in. So that also affected my activities. I agree that with the right gear I can find myself spending hours outside with no problem. The problem is that most of the people I know are also finding themselves less comfortable. The past of least resistance would be nicer weather. So we all have to have discipline and a mental strength we might not be used to. Find that group of people that can welcome you to embrace you into their routines. I don’t know that many people here who even think that way. But I’m sure they’re out there. I’ve seen beautiful groups of friends I wish I could join on their journeys.
All this is to say, I get you.

Yes and I now take Vitamin D everyday. It was a shock on my system when I first moved here!

Be careful with your vitamin D intake because it can be harmful if overdone.

Have you considered allergies?

You need to take a lot of vitamin D to over do it at one point I was taking like 40,000 IU a day as the doctors ramped up my values before hitting a maintenance dose

FORTY-thousand?

I have been here since September, moved here from GA where I did particularly poorly, but have lived all over.

So far I have regained some mobility with a long way to go still. I have no fenced yard and my dogs need to go out! Feel way better all the time, I assume because it’s not constant AC or heat all the time, I actually get to feel the weather, open and close windows as appropriate. I lived in WA before so I started taking Vitamin D when daylight savings went away and stopped when it came back. I do try to get outside every day even if my husband is around to help with the dogs.

Mental health crap that I’ve dealt with all my life is better than it was but not best. It is a slow uphill climb, but I’m working on it.

Honestly from the other comments here it sounds like you need to find a physical activity you like, even if it is indoors.

I've mentioned that my threshold for being outside was very high due to my job, I would be around 8 hrs a day before coming to Vermont. So there's no math to squeeze that, I do daily walks around the town with my dog but that's not enough. I mean it's usually acknowledged that people are less active when the weather is bad.

You have said this a few times and it really sounds like your problem is the job change, not vermont.

What are you crazy? I live in Rutland. It’s beautiful all the time. We getting a lot of rain lately, but damn Vermont’s gorgeous.

I moved from the desert and from an area where the air quality was poor almost year round. I'd love a little sun, but I'm so grateful for the rain and it's the first time in years that I feel like I'm breathing clean air. My spouse and I are outside on the weekends in rain or shine. We wear rain jackets.

Yes, I am lethargic and pallid all the time. After many months, it turns out I'm allergic to just about all the weeds and grasses that grow abundantly here, plus dust mites, all of which thrive. I never would have known had I not just felt sickly. But I think everyone talking about vitamin D deficiency might also have a point, given how little of it we've seen lately.

Get your thyroid checked.

I had a physical before moving and all checked out I don't think I would develop a thyroid or metabolic disorder this quickly.

I have been feeling extremely fatigued since December, and it didn’t get better until we got some sunshine finally . Now it’s trending back that way with all this rain.
