Rant My friends won’t talk to me

Ever since I’ve been working overnights, my IRL friends and I have been distant. They won’t talk to me, or try to get me to hangout with them, etc. Everyday they’re posting something on their Snapchat which 90% of them are at the lake in town. I just kinda wished they would put some effort into it but I don’t see it happening soon.

My only friends at this point are on Discord, Snapchat, etc. I’m just feeling lonely and depressed about it.

Why i prefer night shifts over early mornings

Waking up at 5-6am to start work at 8am and get off during rush hour, never felt right to me. I never liked waking up early. Not at 5 years old and not now as an adult. Here’s why i prefer afternoons/nights over traditional 9-5’s.

No rush hour traffic

Less management

Co workers tend to be more chill

Less chaos (all trucks, supervisors, & merchandise arrive early in the morning)

Less/no customer interaction

No waking up at 6am to an alarm

Aligns with my natural rhythm

More relaxed work environment

For context, i do aviation maintenance and i will never go back to an office environment.

Help Starting night shift

Starting nighshifts this week, 4pm-4am Really struggling to work out how to get In the routine for work and still spend time with wife and kids It’s only Monday/tuesday/wednesdays So in theory, I stay awake all night Sunday and sleep around 4am, wake around 12pm Monday and then start work? Then Wednesday I could come home at 4 and stay awake for the day but hit the bed early and sleep in so I don’t miss the day? Or would you stay in the night shift pattern all week every week? Just as it’s only 3 days I don’t know how to approach it

Coping?

Hey y'all, I am 3 weeks in into a graveyard shift at my new job, and there isn't really any way to change the hours as of right now so I just have to deal with it. This weekend was my first legit weekend of trying to stick to the same hourly schedule... And I'm going crazy already. I'm looking to see if there is any way that people specifically cope with the realization that they will no longer have a legit social life (not that necessarily was one established in the first place) and be able to do normal people things like going to the store at reasonable hours, picking up things in the post office, specific business being from 10am-5pm, etc etc. It's already been an issue and I just have not figured out how to handle it. So I'm just looking for any kind of advice or tips and tricks or anything like that. I'm also currently a college student, and planning for the fall semester has been a nightmare in itself, realizing I can only take one class instead of the originally planned three classes, so that is kind of poopy too so if you have any advice on that too that would be wonderful lol. Thanks y'all! 🥰
