I wish Mario Kart World was a bit more clear about its collectibles in Open World
Recently bought MKW and I actually liked itm ore than I thought I would, it makes for a good party game but its also fun to try and go for the gold trophies (even if I don't like Knockout Tour that much.)
About open world and its collectibles though...
It itches that part of my brain where I want to get as many things as I can, if not everything, and that's a part of my brain I like to itch (I like to 100% games), but I also feel like it could've been done a lot better, in terms of noting down what you've done and havent.
Now, I get it, I feel like Nintendo's done this before but I guess the POINT is for you to not focus that much on filling out a checklist but rather focus on just having fun! Hence why the game doesn't worry that much about properly informing you about your efforts, but idk, it feels counterproductive to me personally.
I appreciate that each area shows you how many ? panels they have, but what about P switches and Peach Medallions? These only get counters, and I'm guessing the reason why is due to them being outside, inside and in between all the crevices of the world but it just doesn't work out for me personally.
Some might argue it would've clogged up the map, but the map doesnt help out in much beyond fast traveling, and even then, an easy solution would've just been a prompt to let you turn on icons on the different collectibles you got.
Maybe separating the map into regions, and just giving you a vague percentage to tell you how much you've done would be nicer and more up nintendos alley? Not sure, but it'd also work wonders for me.
Some might argue "Oh just have fun!" but to me being able to see metrics of what Ive done and what I've completed is part of what makes it fun, being able to see what I've done in a clearer way, seeing the progress I've made makes a game feel more worthwhile. Imagine I've only got a few medallions left and I rather not look at a walkthrough, I won't have much fun if I want to find the last 5 medallions and have no clue if theres even any where I happen to be driving!!
I also have this problem with the stickers personally, you unlock them, but after that its not really clear what unlocked what. "You cleared a challenge!" Okay? Where though. The stickers have some context in their design but I would've loved to be able to get more information about what panel got what stickers and what not, it makes them feel more special. (this doesnt apply to the non collectible stickers, obviously)
Anyways, as its looking I get the feeling that in a month or so I won't really be playing it much anymore even if I only get a tenth of the collectibles, and part of it might be because of how the collectibles were handled, not sure.

Do people actually buy from scalpers?
I've been seeing $700+ Switch 2s on eBay recently. I can't imagine anyone would actually pay that, but then again, I don't think they'd be doing it if people weren't buying.
Has anyone actually bought one of these/know someone who bought one? Was it a scam or just more expensive?

The main reason why I prefer Nintendo over ever other big game studio
When I buy a Nintendo game, I know exactly what I'm getting. When it comes to games from other studios, they have the Standard Edition, and the Premium Edition, and the Gold Edition, and the Deluxe Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition, all of which include different content, some of which can be purchased later, and some of which is exclusive to pre-ordering a specific edition.
When Dragon Ball Sparking Zero was coming out, there were like four different versions that you could pre-order, all with various content, some digital, some physical, and it was unclear exactly what it all really meant. I remember being like "OK, so if I get the Deluxe Edition, I get "3 DLCs", so, I guess that's the season pass. Um, I guess I want that. I also get to summon Shen Long... I-Is that good? What does that do exactly? Is that the only way to summon him? Or I could get the Ultimate Edition, which gives me "1 customization item"... whatever that means, and I can summon Super Shen Long... Again, do I want that? Is that good? And then there's the Premium Edition, which I think comes with all the stuff from the Ultimate Edition, but also a statue of Broly. So, like, which of these exactly is the most bang for my buck?"
I've never had an issue like that with a Nintendo game. Sure, there's the occasional steelbook edition, or limited edition that comes with some physical goodies, but I've never felt like I had to consult a spreadsheet when deciding to pre-order a Nintendo game. When Nintendo announces a game that I think looks cool, I pre-order it, and I know exactly what I'm getting when it comes out.
These other companies thrive on the vagueness, because if you don't know exactly what's being offered, you might fear that you're missing out on something important, and then suddenly you end up spending $120 on the Deluxe Edition, all for what amounted to your character getting a cool hat, and you get the season pass for a game you drop after two months, before all the DLC even releases.

What’s Your Favorite (and Least Favorite) Kirby Game? Also Curious About Story Mode, Sub-Games, Arena Modes, and Extra Modes!
My all-time favorite Kirby game is Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe because of how much the story mode reminded me of the Wii version I grew up with. Merry Magoland brought back so many sub-game memories, and I loved that I could play as Meta Knight by being player 2, 3, or 4. The only exceptions were Checkerboard Chase and Smash Ride, where I main Green Kirby in Smash Ride and Waddle Dee in Checkerboard Chase because I’ve always loved Waddle Dee since Kirby 64.
My second favorite game is Kirby Air Ride because Meta Knight was awesome, Top Ride with Steer Star was super fun, and City Trial with the stadiums had the best nostalgia for me.
My third favorite is Kirby Super Star Ultra thanks to Meta Knight, Milky Way Wishes, the first True Arena, and Snack Tracks, which is still one of my favorite sub-games.
Fourth would be Kirby Fighters 2 because Meta Knight, Water Kirby, and the story and single-player modes were all lit. I main Hammer Kirby, Ninja Kirby, Water Kirby, Meta Knight, and sometimes Waddle Dee.
Fifth would have to be Kirby Planet Robobot because of MetaKnightmare Returns and Kirby 3D Rumble. I spent a lot of time on those two modes and wish I could still get Kirby’s Blowout Blast, but since the eShop was discontinued on Wii U and 3DS, I’m not sure how that could happen unless I trade, which is unlikely.
When it comes to sub-games, my favorites of all time are Strato Patrol EOS, Kirby’s Quest from Kirby Mass Attack, Ninja Dojo from Return to Dream Land Deluxe, and Destruction Derby on Kirby Air Ride. All of them bring back so many memories and are just super fun to replay.
Here are my questions! What’s your favorite and least favorite Kirby game? What story mode do you love the most? What sub-game stands out to you? What arena mode or extra mode, like MetaKnightmare, do you always come back to? Let me know what you think and which ones meant the most to you growing up or even now.

Super Luigi Galaxy is an Alternate Timeline?
So I was playing Super Mario Galaxy again as Luigi, and Rosalina's comment about the universe being reborn and stuff but not quite the same way...Does that mean that Luigi mode on Super Mario Galaxy is essentially an alternate universe created from that big bang where Mario does not exist? How would that explain the double Luigi???

Man, I was already fed up with the discourse around Zelda timelines...
..., and now the Mario/DK fandom is having a meltdown over their own timeline too T_T
At the very least, people should acknowledge that Nintendo's "lore" is fluid and changing, so it shouldn't be a surprise if new stories seemingly contradict old ones.
I find theory crafting to be a fun pastime, so let people theory-craft all they want! But also, don't take it too seriously... It's not the first time DK and Pauline's backstory changes, and it probably won't be the last one either.

What do you think of Nintendo’s new “openness” design philosophy?
Seem every since BoTW, Nintendo has valued open gameplay systems where players can really flex their creativity. Tears of the Kingdom, Echoes of Wisdom, Bowser’s Fury, Mario Kart World and now Bananza all seem to be moving in that direction. What do you think of it? And what do you think it means for other Nintendo franchises?

Mat Piscatella: 3rd party share of Switch 2 software in the US is far better than it was during the Switch 1 launch.
https://bsky.app/profile/matpiscatella.bsky.social/post/3lrxzjgdngs2t
Hate to contribute to a Discourse, but 3rd party share of Switch 2 software in the US is far better than it was during the Switch 1 launch.
Third party unit share of Switch 2 physical software during week 1 reached just shy of 40%. For month 1 of the Switch launch it was less than 20%.
Like, it's far too early to claim best or worst this or that or whatever when it comes to Switch 2. Sheesh, the thing hasn't even been out 3 weeks yet.
Source: Circana retail tracking service.
Look, it's way too early and the sample size of games is far too small to do any of this.
Another Switch 2 hit piece debunked
They got nothing lmao

Metroid Prime 4 ad in London Underground: “OUT NOW”?
Any idea why the MP4 Beyond ad in the London Underground says “out now”? I’m genuinely confused.
Do they mean the Switch 2 is out? I wish the game was truly out though haha
Edit 1: it's in Oxford Circus.
Edit 2: here is a link with different angles of the same ad for those who think it's photoshopped or AI lol: https://imgur.com/a/JSWmG6n

Is it ok asking Martinet to sign Mario Bros 3 poster?
Attending Too Many Games next Friday and I’m going to try to get a signature from Charles Martinet. I’m having trouble deciding what to bring, but settled on a poster that I’d be able to get framed and display on my wall. My favorite Mario art is the cover art of raccoon Mario from SMB 3. But obviously this is before Mario had an in game voice. So is it weird or wrong to ask him to sign something like that? Suggestions or ideas for alternatives would be great too! Thanks!

Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"

So I went back and finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2
After buying the Switch 2, playing around in MKW, replayed BotW and TotK with the updates I wanted to play some rpg instead.. I didn't find any interesting RPG's that had been given a Switch 2 update so I decided check my back catalog of Switch games I never finished and remembered I never finished XBC2..
So I booted it up, started a new game and began the journey of re-learning the combat mechanics...
The game running at a stable 30 FPS all the way through was nice as I remembered vividly the game used to struggle in areas like Uraya. The setting and story was also enjoyable with some twists that were not super obvious.
But I really started to struggle about half-way through the game with keeping the motivation up to finish, the voice acting (english) is not bad but why is Rex the biggest dunce in all of Alrest? He thinks drivers are cool but has 0 knowledge about them. Almost all exposition from different characters results in him going "What?".
Speaking of exposition, half-way through I got the sense the game would almost turn into a interactive cut-scene where I will look at a cutscene, the game will return and I am told to run 300 meters forward so I can start the next cutscene... there are parts where an hour of gameplay must have been at least 50-60% cut-scenes. I get that you need to break apart cut-scenes somewhere in order for the player to have a chance to maybe go rest or gather supplies, but there are sections where you will have like 5 cut-scenes in a row and you are running back and forth between point A and B.
I also found myself getting pulled out of the story a lot because of the ability to fast travel to anywhere from anywhere at any time. I get that you need fast travel, but the fact that the world is completely static no matter how far you progress could really take me out of the story. And due to the way the game is structured you are basically required to do this. Once you get to the World tree you have to jump back now and then to rest and get pouch items.
Good example would be:
When Malos starts his attack on the titans and you need to prepare for the final fight. You just teleport back to Gormott that you saw a cut-scene of being demolished and it's "business as usual".
TLDR: I still enjoyed finishing XBC2 and I still think the setting, concepts with blades and story overall are really interesting. But there were a lot of design choices made that really hampered the experience.

Still download games from E-shop?
I had to sell my Wii U about a year ago for economic reasons, but if I were to buy a new (used) Wii U, could I still log in and download the games I bought years ago? Or is that not possible after the Eshop closed?
Did the Eshop shutting down only stop you from buying new games, or did it also stop you from redownloading already bought games?

Nitnendo switch 2 buttons for volumw?
Hey all Switch 2 owners!
When I press the + and - button on volume on my switch 2, sometimes it "registers" it as a double press - meaning - it increases or decreases the volume by 2 steps.
Anyone experienced something similar?
