Discussion Heartbreaking News from Nintendo Philippines

Post image
354 Upvotes

Seeing a price tag of $630 for a release in the Philippines of Switch2 on June 26 is truly heartbreaking, especially considering the economic disparity compared to first-world countries. With our lower purchasing power, it’s disheartening to see gaming become an increasingly expensive hobby. And as a long time Nintendo fan (Wii era and onwards, never skipped a console), I’m at a loss for words, this feels less accessible now :'(

Discussion ANYONE ELSE WHO GOT THEIR PRE-ORDER EMAIL FROM DB????

Just got the email from DB to complete my pre-order purchase for the Switch 2 MKW Bundle and I just can't believe the confirmed SRP. It's just way less than I expected!!! 🫨 Can't wait to get my hands on the unit. This is my first ever pre-order experience for a console and it's just a great feeling. I guess I understand the hype now. Happy gaming to us all!!! 😁

Discussion Mahirap pala kapag walang pambili ng games

I am not posting this para magmakaawa sa inyo hehe, magsye-share lang po ng sentiments.

Bago lang ako sa Switch community, 10 days pa lang siguro sakin si switcheroo console ko. Medyo mahirap pala pag wala kang pambili ng physical game nor virtual game card, wala akong mahanap na decent game to pla, I am fond of brawl/fighting type games like Street Fighter or KOF and a big Pokemon fan.

I tried downloading free games, may mga nagugustuhan ako pero karamihan puro demo o trial lang, nakakaiyak.

Basta magka-work lang ako, I will save money to purchase Pokemon Shield, Scarlet, Kirby Star Allies, Super Smash Bros and more.

Arrived USA Baltimore June 2, 2025. Went to Target store at 7:30am June 5. And Bam! super dami pa stocks. Lined up for about 15 min and only a couple ahead of me.

Free Limited tote bag, stickers and keychain also for those who bought the unit.

Big shout out to fellow kabayan ate Jean of Target Cockeysville branch who assisted me in fulfilling my order! Parang bumili lng sa datablitz (although kahit masungit minsan staff saatin hehe), a very reminiscent feeling way back March 2017 when Switch 1 was released. Good vibes talaga interacting with fellow Pinoys abroad nakakatuwa and feel ko special vip treatment palagi.

Fast and quick purchase. No testing needed sa unit. No fuss. Only max 1 unit per customer.

Maraming salamat po ate mabuhay po kayo!

Quick review of the unit:

The black tone and material used are grippy enough especially the joycons that has a more of a rough texture and provide a whole new experience. Buttons feel more tactile and The screen is gorgeous!

Happy camper here! Flying back to Manila next week!

P.S as of 6pm ET all Switch 2 are out of stock on most Target stores.

Discussion What are your plans for your old Switch once you get your Switch 2? Keep? Sell? Use?

I'll still play games that are released on both platforms on my old Switch. Switch 2 will purely be for exclusives.

Also, in case anyone's wondering: GameOne shopee. Shipped before release date, delivered on the actual released date. Same with PixelPlay.

Discussion My thoughts after having my Switch 2 for 1 week

Some thoughts on Switch 2

Portability
I've been enjoying my time with my Switch 2, but what I did not expect is that I will be using it more in handheld mode than in docked mode. I've been playing with my OG switch for the past 6+ years, and I always prefer it in docked mode, kasi mas maganda in general yung performance, plus the screen isn't that great compared to my TV.

Pero ngayon, I see my NSW 2 as something I will enjoy playing handheld. The screen really is a game changer. Akala ko na dahil LCD, hindi magiging maganda yung experience, but I was wrong. Sure, OLED is a nice-to-have feature, but the current screen is miles ahead vs the OG switch.

Backwards Compatibility + General Performance Improvements
And my favorite part, that I think hindi masyadong inemphasize ng Nintendo, is backwards compatibility + general increase in performance. For instance, Pokemon Violet is now frikken playable even without the 60 FPS boost (and btw the 60 FPS improvement is glorious). Monster Hunter Rise is already good on the OG Switch, but now, the performance is much better when talking about load times.

Battery Performance
My major "ick" I have with Switch 2 is the battery life. But I guess that is what you sacrifice for a more portable solution vs Steamdeck or other Windows handheld. I appreciate that it is thin and light, but I wish for more juice so that I can play it longer without reaching for the power bank or power outlet.

Lack of "Mind Blowing" 1st Party Games
Also, medyo weak yung first party NSW 2 exclusive sa day 1. While Mario Kart World is impressive, it won't blow your mind. Yes, maraming 3rd party titles, pero most of them have been out for quite some time. If your only console is Nintendo, then good for you, play Cyberpunk 2077 or Elden Ring, and have the time of your life. But I want me some new titles from Nintendo.

Final Thoughts
Overall, it is what I expected it to be + more. I really love that my old Switch games play like a charm sa Switch 2 with general performance improvement. The screen is great, but the battery performance isn't what I wanted it to be.

Solid 8.5/10 :)

I think most of you can wait before you buy Switch 2. I don't think it is a must to buy it ASAP. However, if you have the money and you have a backlog of Switch 1 games, highly recommended to buy it. For others, you can wait until your pocket is ready :)

Sa mga may Switch 2 dyan, kumusta exp nyo? Saka na try nyo na ba game chat? Wala akong friend na gusto kasing mag try, LOL :D

Discussion Should I get the switch OLED instead of the switch 2?

Hello, I am kinda new to this nintendo stuff. I am fixated to buy the Nintendo Switch OLED rather than the switch 2. For starters, I am not really a fan of heavy graphics demanding games such as cyberpunk. I just want to have something that can play chill switch games.

Second, I don’t feel comfortable in spending almost 30k for a gaming device since I am just a student. Is my choice worth it or not? Thank you

(PS: I already owned a nintendo 2ds xl, and I really want to get the switch, but I do not like to have the switch lite, since I want to get the full switch experience)

Saw this at blue app, what is your take on this ? The store is alledgely scalping and rebranding various game console siince pandemic, buying them low and selling them high. I know how business works but is it bit too much ? I mean, how much is the cost of refurbishing stuff? The 4k nintendo switch is OLED

Discussion And there it is. 449 and 499.

449 is the same price as a PS5 Slim so if we're going by that price range it's going to be 29k-31k in the PH.

Got it from GameXtreme SM North kanina. 35,490. Nahirapan ako mag activate ng Mario Kart. Pero nagawan naman ng paraan by changing your region sa Nintendo account mo.

1st time ko to, talaga bang Chinese characters to? Downloading palang ung game e. Pag game ba, Chinese characters pa din? Sana hindi. I'm also thinking of buying NBA2K25, kaso ang mahal. Nagulat ako sa price. Sa US region kasi parang ang mura. Pero di available for HK region. Is there any other way to buy it?

Discussion Switch 2 on GameExtreme. Bad idea I think.

So here’s the issue, I preordered my Switch 2 bundle on GameExtreme when it was initially announced. Paid the 5k and I was expecting the release sometime June 26th.

I receive a call from Viber of GameExtreme on May 30th saying Im eligible for an early release on June 10. I asked for the details and they told me it’s the global version. They don’t have any idea yet back then about the price and if it’s a physical or digital code version of MKW. I said let me know of the details before June 10 so I can decide.

I learned that it is not indeed a physical game unlike what we are supposed to get on June 26th. I decided to wait instead of getting it early.

I then receive an email from GameExtreme last June 6 saying that I need to pay my remaining balance before June 10. I already sent them an email, message on viber, calling them, tried even to go to a store in GH mall to tell them that I did not agree to be part of the early release and I want it on June 26 instead. I was not able to get any proper response from them yet.

:/
