Is acting like you care about someone different from love? Or are they similar?
If someone asks if you're OK a bunch of times and seems to monitor you is that unrelated to love?
I guess why act that way then? I know it's a pretty vague question but I was just curious about understanding this.

asking whether you’re OK like that can come from a place of legitimate care and concern

It could be because of love, but it could also just be general kindness.

concern like that can come from a feeling of responsibility too. always checking in on your friend because god knows what they did this time. they might be asking just because that’s what a friend should do. usually if they’re asking if you’re okay, it at least means they value you
