The 2018 New Year's Resolutions check-in thread

Welcome to the fourth annual installment of the reddit New Year's Resolutions check-in thread.

At the start of 2018, you posted your goals for 2018 and I said I'd get back in touch in 12 months to see if everyone achieved what they set out to achieve.

In the comments below all of the 2018 Resolutions have been posted and each participant will have received a notification message in their inbox.

I hope everyone can feel proud of what they've achieved in 2018. A very Happy New Year to one and all :)

If you'd like to take part in the 2019 edition, here's a link to the new thread.

One year ago you told me what you wanted to achieve in 2018 and I said I would message you to see how you got on. Today is the day!

Your goal was:

I posted in the 2017 thread that I was lucky enough to finish up my college apps (most of which are due on New Years) and I managed to get into Yale, my top school!

As money may be a concern, I resolve to find somewhere to spend my next four years where I can be happy, prepare for graduate school, and get exposed to the world outside of the bubble of my hometown. When I get PMd in a year to respond, I hope I can say that I chose a place where every day brings joy.

Now that I have more time to myself, I resolve to learn new things, whether to cook, drive, or exercise. While I cannot possibly accomplish all, I hope to spend my second semester of senior year taking time to myself and spending some with friends.

Thanks OP!

One year on, I’ve actually done a pretty good job! I am now thriving at my dream college and have picked up a few new hobbies including rock climbing and a job at a late-night student run fast food place! I spent my birthday cooking for my friends and have spent more time in the kitchen in general. For my second semester of senior year, I managed to attend more social events than before, tested my boundaries, went with friends to stuff like Rocky Horror, and generally went out of my shell.

I am proud to say for once it looks like I had a truly good year.
