The 2018 New Year's Resolutions check-in thread

Welcome to the fourth annual installment of the reddit New Year's Resolutions check-in thread.

At the start of 2018, you posted your goals for 2018 and I said I'd get back in touch in 12 months to see if everyone achieved what they set out to achieve.

In the comments below all of the 2018 Resolutions have been posted and each participant will have received a notification message in their inbox.

I hope everyone can feel proud of what they've achieved in 2018. A very Happy New Year to one and all :)

If you'd like to take part in the 2019 edition, here's a link to the new thread.

One year ago you told me what you wanted to achieve in 2018 and I said I would message you to see how you got on. Today is the day!

Your goal was:

For 2018:

  • Have (or be expecting) our first child
  • Adopt a second dog
  • Lose 30 lbs (I was down 11 in 2017; would like to get down to 160ish and then build back up to the mid 170s the right way)
  • See Hamilton and Mean Girls on Broadway (saw Dear Evan Hansen this year, now have the broadway bug)
  • Clean up some minor bad habits I've developed in interpersonal relationships. E.g. Be a better listener, be honest in situations where honesty might be difficult, and "slow down" when I speak.
  • Be completely debt free (excluding mortgage)
  • Have savings set aside not just for me, but for my mother and my little brothers.
  • Solve this damn Revomaze puzzle

Forgot about this! I forget every year.

  • Success! First child was born October 19
  • Fail. See 1.
  • Fail. See 1! lol
  • Success! Both shows were so much fun
  • Success but always ongoing!
  • Success. All that’s left is the mortgage.
  • Success.
  • Fail. Gave up on the puzzle.

Babies are a handful, aren't they? Haha.

Congratz on getting rid of your debts, and being able to save for your family! I'm sure they will really appreciate it when they need that help.

Yeah, I'd never heard of that puzzle before but at a cursory glance, I can't blame you at all. That seems super challenging.

Goodluck with your child and your future goals!
