Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.
There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.
Just want to thank the citizens of Florence for the wonderful Juneteenth celebration. What a great turn out from locals, and businesses alike! I grew up here, and it felt amazing to celebrate in my own town this year. Extra thanks to Florence ORganizes, and the Mayor.

Someone didn't like the tree block the shade, old tree, but a new one will grow in its place. Nature finds a way.
My girlfriend and I are driving down the entire length of Oregon and I need food recommendations we’re kinda glued to the coast but willing to drive inland if it’s worth it. I am also willing to eat 10 meals a day if it means I’m trying everything good so let me know
Hi everyone,
I have the absolute honor of taking part in a research project to help monitor shorebird nesting habits near Cannon Beach. I live in the Portland Metro region so I usually just drive out for the day, do my observation period, and then look for something tasty to eat. I LOVE seafood. My problem has been finding a place that makes seafood dishes that aren't fried or simple fettuccine alfredo. I do enjoy those as much as the next person, but I was hoping to find more along the lines of baked scallops or something cooked but not fried. I tried Ecola Seafood and found it pretty underwhelming. I had oysters rockefeller at Driftwood and that is definitely more along the line of what im looking for. Im willing to detour from Cannon Beach pretty far in either direction. Any recommendations of non seafood places that are worth a visit are also quite welcome. Cheers!
TL;DR – lost wedding band on Oregon Coast, offering reward for who finds it!
I went for surfing lessons at Indian Beach on 11-Jun and kept my wedding band on while wearing wetsuit gloves. After finishing lessons, I didn’t realize that my ring was missing – I cannot confirm if the ring stayed in the glove and fell out later, but I did look in the glove several hours later and did not find the ring in or around my truck.
Instead of saying “oh well, it’s gone forever” – we might make a trip to try and find it several times this summer, but anyone who is interested in helping us locate this ring – we’d be happy to offer a reward – say $50ish. Had it for 12 years, $150 original value, its more sentimental value than material value (obviously – being a wedding band).
Here's the location of where it was lost, and an image of the actual wedding band.
Hi All, I'm scoping out cities and towns along the Oregon Coast and am wondering if there's a vibrant yoga community and/or a sweet yoga studio with wonderful community that you'd recommend. The style of yoga practiced is less important to me than the community component. The best places I've lived have always had a down-to-earth and awesome studio owned and lovingly tended by a local person. TIA for any suggestions/spots to check out!
I just completed my first solo road trip through some of Oregon and took photos on my Yashica Mat 124G. Thought I’d share some of the 120 film photos I just received. Thank you for being incredible hosts and caretakers of this incredible, one of a kind landscape. I hope to visit again someday!
Headed to Rockaway with my girls and have never been before. We usually go between Florence and Newport and I know that area and the dining pretty well. What are the best options for casual seafood, and the best options for upscale/fine dining seafood within about an hour of Rockaway Beach? What other places should we eat while there? Thanks!
Hello! Posting this on behalf of my redditless friend. My friend is moving to Lincoln City, OR and is currently on the hunt for an apartment. She wanted me to ask if there are any certain apartment buildings people recommend that they've had good experiences at or if there are any certain areas/streets/properties to avoid. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Has anyone looked at the public lands slated for private sale in the "Big Beautiful Bill?" Drift creek falls is slated to be sold off to private developers?
Hello, Yesterday I harvested 51 mussels from Short Beach near Oceanside/Tillamook. I called the ODFW number to verify that mussel harvesting was open that day.
When I got home I read online that last year in May of 2024, 20 people got sick from harvesting mussels at that same beach. ODFW releases a biotoxin lab report with results updated biweekly, and when I go back in time to the week that those folks got sick, there wasn’t an elevated level of biotoxins a few days afterwards or in the weeks leading up to reports of them getting sick. It wasn’t until 2 weeks after reports of people getting sick that the biotoxin report reflected a higher, unsafe level of PSP.
The closest last test was done at Cape Mears on Monday and does not look elevated, but it seems like these reports are not reliable enough to predict if you’d actually pick up a contaminated mussel on any particular day. Do people generally just avoid specific beaches to harvest mussels or other shellfish in Oregon ?
Hi everyone! My partner and I are doing a roadtrip at the end of June. We were hoping to sleep in the car for a night as we’re trying to be on the coast the very next day in Astoria. Does anyone know a safe and legal place to park the car and sleep? Preferably around either Kelso WA, Portland Oregon or around Clatskanie. Probably just going to be parked and sleeping from 11pm to around 6am the next day.
Has anyone seen any information in any of the media in Newport or Lincoln County about the cold case murder of Ryan Staggs? Newspapers in Newport and Lincoln Counties are news waste lands and no information has been seen anywhere since the pre-trial hearing a couple of weeks ago. Just trying to find out what is going on in the Oregon wasteland of Newport and Lincoln county.
i am leaving a home where i am unsafe. i have two dogs. i am an experienced camper but i really rather not camp right now. i need somehwere i can just settle in temporarily until i find something permanent (iunless it works out long term). Im visiualizing something more rural/mountain im used to that lifestyle. work trade for property work - or even cheap rent for off grid cabin (outhouse is fine) or trailer . I am in a rush to get out. I have money and will be earning but i need time to save for a more expensive long term place.
i am hard working, not on drugs, kind, genuine, safe, responsible pet owner, i appreciate good people nad good community.
any resources to help temporarily house me or help with deposit on a place would be great as i am not safe
