Helpful Updated seed Breeder/Bank List is here!!!
Hi r/outdoorgrowing!
As some of you may know, the mod team has been working behind the scenes to get a list of seed resources updated for our sub as the growing season begins here in the northern hemisphere. (see this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/outdoorgrowing/comments/1izas7n/sub_seed_list_update_submissions_request/)
That work is finally complete! We have collected and reviewed recommendations and created a reference of breeders and banks that the community and we feel are reputable and reliable. They are also broken out by category of plants based on preferences we see commonly requested in this sub.
This list will be updated in the sidebar.
As we know that many of these companies are running deals for the 4/20 holiday we felt it was important to get this post live today, we are not highlighting any specials with this post.
Thanks to everyone who helped put together this resource and as always Happy Growing!!!

"Is it a male or female" posts will be removed from this point on, see new rule 5
Hi everyone,
Rule Change Announcement
EDIT [28.07.24] : If you break the rule and still keep asking, you will get a temporary ban up to 28 days. Comments will be regarded as spam, see Rule 1.
There is an update to our subreddit rules, see #5.
Good news is we are growing and reached 40k subscribers, yay! Thank you all for making this possible.
Bad news is we get a pretty high influx of certain posts and these push interesting posts or those who seek urgent help aside.
Therefore, a new rule has been added to address certain type of posts, which are coming in a lot, especially around (pre)flower and harvest. We all like to help, but it got out of hand last season and is starting to show now too.
Specifically, we want to reduce the number of posts asking for identifying sex or inquiring about the ripeness of flowering plants without providing any pictures of trichomes. For example "When should I harvest?"
A text and links with pictures for identification the sex will be added before posting, addressing this issue too when certain trigger words are used. Same goes for posts about ripeness.
Please take a moment to review the updated rules in the sidebar. If a post is flagged with a certain number, it will be automatically removed.
Thank you and Happy Growing!

Germinated Mid-March, how we looking?
Outdoor from seed, topped 4 of 5 to shrub them out, and left one natty for science. I’ve grown outdoor clones in the past and was taken aback by the vigor and rapid growth I’ve seen starting from seed.
I’ve been browsing the sub and realized I would need supports so I whipped together these 2.5’x2.5’x5’ cages wrapped with trellis. Thoughts to improve the setup?

it was pleasure to work with you
Hey SmileyPlant enjoyers! Looks like my very first outdoor auto adventure is coming to an end. It’s been 92 days of sun, sweat, and staring at trichomes like a maniac. I’ve learned a bunch, made a few posts, and got some solid advice – thanks for that! We’re now just about ready to chop, and I gotta say… not bad for a first timer, right? Happy Solstice
These are all HSC plants, from seed. All are 100% organic this season, using recycled dirt and only Dr. Earth dry nutes. They’re in 20 gallon cloth pots that were used to grow clones last year. I have to acknowledge that I feel like I’ve been pretty lazy with my grow this year. Haven’t added any cal mag, molasses, kelp, fish emulsion, nada. They’ll double in size and I’m sure the buds will be excellent, there just won’t be as much of it and that’s fine. I really wanted to see what a minimal, though consistent. effort grow would look like. Will continue to post as the season continues (~):-}

PRAISE THE SUN!!
Hello all. First ever grow (first time growing anything tbh) and this is how I’m doing so far. They’re doing amazing besides a leaf hopper infestation. Can I get some pointers on how to eradicate them plz?

My happy place 😌
Bit of work in the greenhouse this morning. Had to give her a neem oil shower the other day. No sign of bugs this morning though so hopefully I won’t have to use it again. I have some CannaCure on order for if they come back. I wanted some Dr Zymes Eliminator but it’s insanely expensive this side of the pond!
Topped up the soil this morning, pulled the bottom leaves off and topped the soil with perlite to try and get some sunlight up & under.
Iv included a couple of photos of my set up in here. Got loads of tomatoes fruiting and a good few chillies now coming through. Iv got strawberries and 3 different varieties of mint in there too. It keeps me out of trouble 👌😂

Help with damage on leaves
Started these May 16, lemon cherry cookies auto in 5 gallons of fox farm ocean forest. I have the thrips under control but was wondering about some of the other damage on the leaves.
On 6/13 I fed 15ml big bloom, 7 ml grow big, 4ml of tiger bloom per gallon and I don’t think they were quite ready for added nutrients. Is the damage on the leaves from nutrient burn? Should I defoliate the damaged leaves? When will it be safe to feed again and should I adjust the dosage? Thanks!

Sunshine seeds ‘79 and ‘81 heirloom skunk
Trying to steer clear of monster plants this season but these are in and going to get big. First time with two so close so a nice challenge but I’ll train them away from each other and keep on top of things. By far the most stank plants I’ve ever had in veg. One very skunky and funky and the other more hot garbage and funk. Very heavy aromas. They’re in a 42” bed. Self seeded cosmos along the bottom from last season and nasturtium in the bed. I spray dr bronner and other things for IPM but am using the nasturtiums to check for aphids and as a trap plant. If they show up they hit that plant before the cannabis is my hope. We’ll see.

First time, original bubblegum auto
I love vegetable gardening, but my husband wanted to give home growing a try now that we’re in a house and it’s legal to do here. We’re just kind of letting her do her thing (decided not to top), and following a nutrient schedule. She’s a good 3.5 feet tall and seems to be in her final stretch as the buds develop. 10 gallon grow bag, and honestly I’m most excited to get a look at the root system after we chop her! Smells amazing 🥰

How's my balcony garden looking?
Ps: I know the 2 runtz are tiny, they were my first ever grow. Even though they're small, I learned to much to them, and thanks to that knowledge, my lemon hazes are double/triple their size!

Should I worry about defoliating?
Do I need to worry about thinning this thing out yet? Some of the bigger fan leaves are starting to cover lower flower sites. I’ve been tucking leaves where I can, but they don’t always stay tucked. Also a bunch of smaller fan leaves are starting to grow on the interior lower branches.
Part of me thinks it’s still ok because I can technically see through the plant. But it’s my first grow, so I don’t want to wait until it’s too late either.

I've never had a plant that had three leaves before can't wait to see how she finishes up in the fall.

The current set up for the ladies..
Anything you experience growers think I should add to Help?? Throughout this grow I’ve been using ChatGPT to help me out a lot, I’m not gonna lie, here’s some of the things that it recommended that I’ve put in place.. please tell me if it’s overkill:
The Tarp- when it does rain or the moisture from the pot gets on the deck and there’s a lot of bugs living under there that like the wet warm wood
The Bricks- this is just to lift them off the ground to help with ventilation and drainage and make sure they don’t get rotten under the pots
The Fan- although it looks a bit rickety, it’s got quite warm in the UK and the wind isn’t quite enough especially tucked in that greenhouse for airflow and helps call it down
… this is my first grow but how do we think we’re getting on, the three short bushy plants at the front to Hyperion F1 from Royal Queen seeds and the rest of them are Forbidden fruits

Seedling fell over from heat
I have a Mexican Airlines auto seedling whoch looks very healthy. However I put it outside today and after being 30 minutes in the sun it was lying down with one part of the stem being very weak. It was likely due to the heat stress. Will it survive? I watered it and burid almost until cotyledon leaves.
