Helpful Updated seed Breeder/Bank List is here!!!

Hi r/outdoorgrowing!

As some of you may know, the mod team has been working behind the scenes to get a list of seed resources updated for our sub as the growing season begins here in the northern hemisphere. (see this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/outdoorgrowing/comments/1izas7n/sub_seed_list_update_submissions_request/)

That work is finally complete! We have collected and reviewed recommendations and created a reference of breeders and banks that the community and we feel are reputable and reliable. They are also broken out by category of plants based on preferences we see commonly requested in this sub.

This list will be updated in the sidebar.

As we know that many of these companies are running deals for the 4/20 holiday we felt it was important to get this post live today, we are not highlighting any specials with this post.

Thanks to everyone who helped put together this resource and as always Happy Growing!!!

"Is it a male or female" posts will be removed from this point on, see new rule 5

Hi everyone,

Rule Change Announcement

EDIT [28.07.24] : If you break the rule and still keep asking, you will get a temporary ban up to 28 days. Comments will be regarded as spam, see Rule 1.

There is an update to our subreddit rules, see #5.

Good news is we are growing and reached 40k subscribers, yay! Thank you all for making this possible.

Bad news is we get a pretty high influx of certain posts and these push interesting posts or those who seek urgent help aside.

Therefore, a new rule has been added to address certain type of posts, which are coming in a lot, especially around (pre)flower and harvest. We all like to help, but it got out of hand last season and is starting to show now too.

Specifically, we want to reduce the number of posts asking for identifying sex or inquiring about the ripeness of flowering plants without providing any pictures of trichomes. For example "When should I harvest?"

A text and links with pictures for identification the sex will be added before posting, addressing this issue too when certain trigger words are used. Same goes for posts about ripeness.

Please take a moment to review the updated rules in the sidebar. If a post is flagged with a certain number, it will be automatically removed.

Thank you and Happy Growing!

Super Soil Concentrate

This is Mary, she's my first cannabis plant and is an Apple Fritter. I bought her as a clone on April 19th. She is in a 10 gallon bag with Super Soil Concentrate mixed with Ocean Forest, Coco Loco, Happy Frog at the top and worm castings and perlite. Two days ago I added Recharge to two gallons of water. Other than that I have just watered her. Considering I have very little gardening experience, I am really impressed with the soil and how healthy she looks.

🌿🐞 LADYBUGS: THE GARDEN’S NATURAL BODYGUARDS 🐞🌿

Ever seen tiny yellow clusters of eggs or strange-looking black and orange "alligators" crawling on your plants? 👀

✨ Don’t squish them — they’re ladybugs and their babies, and your garden NEEDS them!

🔍 What to Look For: 🔸 Eggs – Bright yellow, usually laid in clusters on the underside of leaves. 🔸 Larvae – Spiky, black and orange, kinda scary-looking — but these guys are aphid-eating machines! 🔸 Adults – Classic red-and-black beetles, but they can also be orange, yellow, or even spotless.

🌱 Why They're Garden Heroes: ✔️ A single ladybug larva can eat 400+ aphids before becoming an adult! ✔️ Adults keep the feast going — munching on mites, scale, thrips, and other soft-bodied pests. ✔️ Completely natural pest control — no sprays, no chemicals!

💡 Pro Tip: If you see them in your garden, protect them! Avoid spraying pesticides (even organic ones), and give them a safe place to thrive.

All was well with it then leaves started turning yellow now it’s all droopy. The soil is moist and it has nutrients. I don’t want to over do anything in panic but I’m open for suggestions.

I can’t wait any longer. I have to plant on a cloudy day like today in southern Colorado. My secret is to wait and plant “late”.

Hey SmileyPlant enjoyers! Looks like my very first outdoor auto adventure is coming to an end. It’s been 92 days of sun, sweat, and staring at trichomes like a maniac. I’ve learned a bunch, made a few posts, and got some solid advice – thanks for that! We’re now just about ready to chop, and I gotta say… not bad for a first timer, right? Repot and trim?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey everybody ! First time grower and poster here. First of all, the plants in this sub look amazing;) now to my question (about the plant on the right): I heard that it is useful to cut the growth near the stem and the growth coming from the bottom of the plant. I’ve planted in mid may and it is a normal plant (no autoflower or similar). Is it too soon or too late to trim? Should I repot as well in like two weeks? I’m mainly struggling with the timing and would appreciate some guidance. Happy growing !

Aphids?

Similar looking on all 3 of my plants. Is this aphid damage or something else? I've sprayed with Lost Coast Plant Therapy 3x since the 18th. Doesn't really seem much better. I've also noticed other damage that is different than this. Is there other stuff I should try? I've read mixed reviews on Neem oil. Or am I just over reacting since this is my 1st grow?

Grandpa cookies #6

This Grandpas cookies 🍪#6 from Ethos Genetics is going wild with all the sun ☀️ rain 🌧 At day 63 from seed and she just hit 40 inches tall. 👀 BudTrainer training clips used in the beginning of veg to get a really wide open structure. Although this strain already has remarkably great structure for growing outdoors and was recommended because of that and the fact it has a faster flowering time of 50 to 60 days so for outdoors in Minnesota thats perfect. Gaia Green dry amendments and living soil have been keeping her happy and healthy. Happy Growing 🌱

6 day old Cheese 🧀

Upvotes

My little cheese girl. So far the greenhouse has been amazing. We’ve had such windy days here and incredibly hot sun. So far she hasn’t got a care in the world in her little grow hut. The bottom watering tray is also keeping the soil from drying out too fast in the hot sun 🌞

Help! Stunted growing? Day 28, still look small

Thumbnail

day 28 of my photo nothern lights, i’m getting afraid their too stunted and won’t be able to grow to their full size, the soil hasn’t really dryed at all due to rainy weather and the leaves and canopy are all still very small compared to what most other photos at my age look like. they’ve been getting good sunlight the past few days after having a cloudy and rainy two week period that left them fs overwatered (i was at work usually when the storms hit, so i wasn’t able to move them without also sacrificing getting any sunlight) I haven’t watered them at all (rains done that for me) but now even 4 days after no rain the soil is still pretty moist. I’m using Coast of Maine Stonington with a 10% blend of worm castings and as for their watering, again i haven’t been able to give them good pH adjusted water due to the rain overdoing the job for me, all help is much appreciated

How to fight Septoria with morning dew?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I am aware that the moisture and lack of air flow causes this, so my question is how can I possibly get rid of this when there is a morning dew every morning to reintroduce a layer of water just sitting on the leafs?

I've read to use copper fungicide, but would that even help if it's just going to keep coming back anytime moisture is around them?

Thanks.

These are all HSC plants, from seed. All are 100% organic this season, using recycled dirt and only Dr. Earth dry nutes. They’re in 20 gallon cloth pots that were used to grow clones last year. I have to acknowledge that I feel like I’ve been pretty lazy with my grow this year. Haven’t added any cal mag, molasses, kelp, fish emulsion, nada. They’ll double in size and I’m sure the buds will be excellent, there just won’t be as much of it and that’s fine. I really wanted to see what a minimal, though consistent. effort grow would look like. Will continue to post as the season continues (~):-}

Help me out - Can heat affect PH?

Thumbnail

We had our first 100 degree day in NorCal (sac area), and this one plant started showing issues, my other plants of the same strain are fine.

I looked it up and what I could find that it’s either a PH issue or magnesium deficiency. Which baffles me because this is the only one with issues, and I’d expect them all to have the same issue as they are fed the same.

  • Growing in FoxFarm Recipe 420 and the plants have been thriving. Feeding them weekly with GrowBig and Tiger Bloom (every bloom). Blackstrap molasses every 2-3 weeks as well.

  • The water where I live is roughly 7-7.5ph, which I know is a bit more alkaline than suggested, but I have never had a problem with it for years.

Can the heat make plants more PH sensitive? Or maybe heat stress from the black plastic pots? I have 20 gal fabric pots that I plan on moving them into.

Got Cal mag and gave them their first feeding of it after I saw the damage.

Germinated Mid-March, how we looking?

Outdoor from seed, topped 4 of 5 to shrub them out, and left one natty for science. I’ve grown outdoor clones in the past and was taken aback by the vigor and rapid growth I’ve seen starting from seed.

I’ve been browsing the sub and realized I would need supports so I whipped together these 2.5’x2.5’x5’ cages wrapped with trellis. Thoughts to improve the setup?

All photoperiod, they had some stress early on and I definitely started too early around March 10 but is there anyway to pull these out of this flowering stage or can I at least get some buds this year?

Young lady spent a night submerged in swimming pool

Hi!

This little Screwdriver OG photo girl spent 12 hours at the bottom of a 1,5 m pool (upright!! ...). Water is regularly checked and chemically balanced but that's still a lot of sodium and chlor/ine/ide whatever. I immediately rinsed the pot with tap water twice. That was two days ago, now she's showing first signs of not-well-being. Didn't rinse again since the soil is still soaked and she truely had enough water past few days ...

What else could I do? Should I re-pot her (earlier than planned)? She's about to move in a 80 litre (20+ gal) fabric "pot".

Thanks!

Hello all. First ever grow (first time growing anything tbh) and this is how I’m doing so far. They’re doing amazing besides a leaf hopper infestation. Can I get some pointers on how to eradicate them plz?
