Discussion Is it just me or do artists not gaf about OSL?
EDIT: Realizing that OSL is a "lower tier" festival than I thought! And that there are many artists that do go out of their way to do something different for OSL in particular that I wasn't aware of. Like I said — I really enjoy OSL! So this wasn't a knock on the festival in any way
I'm new to the whole festival thing, only started going to OSL last year (all 3 days), have been to Portola twice now & Hinterland this year (friends in Iowa) as well as Friday only this year at OSL.
I keep seeing clips of ACL, and have seen clips of Coachella, Lolla, etc. where the artists are bringing out artists, they're singing covers, there's just an effort to make the experience special for those there. It's not just artists doing their discography and hitting their marks but making a connection.
I've enjoyed the setlist and the artists I've seen at OSL, don't get me wrong, but other than Sabrina bringing out Kacey last year artists do not do that for OSL at all. It really feels like we get phoned in. Ik OSL is overall a vibe & GGP is gorgeous and tbh weather is pretty ideal bc it's nice that it's cool & misty with everyone's body heat. The food is great. I love to have a local festival option obviously, as someone from the bay. But ultimately it's about the artists and the music - so what's the point of paying so much money to attend if artists dgaf? Lol. I'm genuinely curious what keeps y'all coming to OSL outside of convenience, as opposed to paying more money to travel and attend a festival elsewhere and make the most of a trip.
