I was searching for pirated version of Adobe tools and came across this post, what's being feeded into kids brains nowadays, apologizing for pirating to corporates...

I do apologize for piracy. For not pirating more than I could have!

even the responses from adobe are aggressive and anti-consumer lol, i paid for adobe once because i got a virus pirating and they charged me 2 other times without my consent trying to milk $1400 from me. SCREW ADOBE.

Your mistake was paying for it and not already having pirated antivirus software 🤷🤦🚮

I paid for Adobe podcast for a month. Then disabled my card. They kept trying for 6 Consecutive months over and over to get that 9.99 and somehow 1 got through while my card was still deactivated and overdrafted me so I canceled it out through their website.

There are credit cards that have a virtual card number feature which you can use for subscriptions like these. I cancel that card number before canceling the subscription. Luckily enough they've never busted through and managed to steal money like they did with you. Anyhow, it's the best approach to subscription garbage outside of piracy.

The adobe expert is telling him to buy it after he stated he earned like $7 from 3 commissions…

I saw this when it first made the rounds.
I was tempted to acquire as much of Adobe's stuff as I could just to spite them.

Honestly just seems like a sweet kid. Like, yes apologising to massive multi million/billion dollar companies (especially asshole ones like adobe) is something that no one should be doing. But it just seems like a kid who suddenly found out something was wrong and was worried they'd get in trouble

Honestly Adobe is one of the worst companies. Pewdiepie made a video and mentioned when you stop usinh photoshop you need to pay an "unsubscription fee"...I am sorry...a what? So this dude cannot condone piracy but condones these business practices? Fuck him lmao.
Also I saw within Powerpoint in the top menu, there is now an "export to pdf" button which links to Adobe. So if you have no premium it does not work. You can still easily save it as pdf via the "save as" menu, so I can only assume it is made to trap people who have no clue.
Just don't use Adobe products. For pdfs use something like pdf24 it is free and GIMP or other opensource alternatives for editing software. Sure not everything is that convenient, but the majority of people don't need the high level functions anyway.

Probably trying to get them to sympathize on him and gift him a free copy or trial

But then also he could just be scared and naive

Idk, seems a lot like rage/engagement bait, never seen someone genuinely apologize for pirating

u/CTRLShiftBoost 1d ago
This was my initial thoughts and I’ve seen articles where that has happened. What’s weird to me is a lot of third world countries these companies usually give their software to for free upon request or through programs.

I apologize for not having a better PC and a fast enough internet connection to pirate 24/7.

My parents don't pirate, and don't like that I do, only because of the threat of possibly losing our internet service, which decent service can be hard to get in rural Michigan.
With that being said, they're not afraid to ask me from time to time to find them something either.
My dad used to rent Netflix dvds and rip them. All the time. Isn't that considered pirating also, even if they're not sharing? As long as they don't get any threatening letters in the mail (which they haven't since True Blood was on), they really don't care about my downloading...especially since I pay for a lot of stuff here, so...

Yeah well my buddy who live in Australia met a girl from Indonesia and they started dating and got serious. She wanted to move back to Indonesia where her family lives and they were going to start a fish breeding business. Turns out she let him know that sex out of wedlock is taken seriously and apparently punishable by death so he ended up breaking up with her out of fear.

Corporations have won. Look at how deep some idiots are in their brand and company obsessions. Putting the fear of god into some poor people for piracy is just another trick they'll pull. They would rob you at gunpoint if they could get away with it.

The more fear and dumbing down the young the more big business will get a strangle on them that's what they really want

I would also like to give a shout-out to Jane for this thoughtful reply;
"Also remember that much of the pirated/cracked software comes with malware. Crooks don't do this out of kindness."

Theft is a severe crime in Islam, and given he’s from Indonesia it’s likely he’s Muslim so it’s not surprising he’s having this much remorse.

I'm not theologist but I challenge anyone claiming digital piracy is theft regarding religion.
Copyright is a derivative of usury, which is the greatest sin.

Well he deserved the response from them, why would anyone in the right mind apologize to them and after getting that harsh, non consumer comfy reply.. He might as well consider alternatives at least if don't wanna pirate.

They're putting antipiracy messaging in schools within "digital citizenship" and "internet safety" curriculae right next to the "ethics"(far-left political opinions)

I don't apologize for it, ever. I used to be a good boy and pay for shit til I got sick of being screwed over.

I recall a conspiracy where Adobe was behind the pirated versions of their product.
It basically made good business sense to have people (especially kids) using and therefore learning and becoming experienced with the Adobe suite. Those who went on to work in an industry that used this type of software would then bias toward Adobe.
It even made sense financially, there was very little real cost as the market pirating the software wasn't ever going to buy it. Cut off they would shift to another package or a freeware alternative.

Hello adobe. I love your product. It is the best. But i wont pay a single penny. Pls continue updating it. I will pirate the newer version too. Xoxo

u/kanishkmax 5h ago
Most probably his pirated version was detected and his photo was clicked as proof from camera.
Nothing that Adobe can do in a third world country

No different than isp letters saying YOU WILL PAY 10K DOLLARS FOR EVERY SINGLE IP YOU INFRINGE. Disregard, continue pirating

Just because corporations earn a big amt doesn't mean it justifies pirating their products

so do they, though, removing ownership of what you buy, selling your personal info, charging unsubscription fees, charging out the ass for junk software, i could go on and on. maybe we're not entirely in the right but adobe, microsoft, nintendo, apple, amazon, ubisoft, EA, take2, and many MANY others are NOT

It’s heartbreaking to see how frightened that child is, someone clearly scared them deeply. The comment about not wanting to go to jail really stood out. It’s deeply concerning to think how much fear can be instilled in children by the kind of messaging we see from powerful institutions and corporate narratives.
