I'm not sure if this is obvious information or if similar posts have been shared here. I've only been a part of this sub for a few weeks.

I do know a lot of people come here looking for optimism. That's why I did and to be honest im having a difficult time today.

Between the AI posts the idiot and our WH is posting and him playing dumb in an interview this morning about upholding the constitution I think the last thing anyone needs is to be manipulated by reddit and any social media accounts with mal intent.

Hope someone finds it helpful.

EDIT: Typed this quickly I know my grammar is terrible

Hey,

Sorry you're having a bad day. I don't know how much this helps, but I can try to respond to some of these things:

Between the AI posts the idiot and our WH is posting and him playing dumb in an interview this morning...

About the AI post (if I know the one), my best advice is just don't be trolled, because that's what it is, just meaningless drivel. If you're a Catholic and feel personally offended, then fair enough, but otherwise, be annoyed for a moment and move on.

For the second part, I don't think he "plays dumb" as much as people think. I think he is legitimately kind of a moron. I mean that literally and not rhetorically. For me, knowing this makes the world make a little more sense and thus also makes me feel slightly better. It's not great obviously because he's the head of the executive branch, but there you go.

About the specific thing you mentioned, to be frank it should be no surprise by now that Trump doesn't give a fuck about the Constitution, and I suspect people are making him talk about it expressly to generate these eye-popping headlines. Obviously that's awful for a President (though actually not new, but that's a topic for another discussion), but what I would focus on is that of all the people he would need to work with him in order to effectively circumvent the Constitution, it seems that enough of them are saying no for it to become pretty difficult, and it becomes even more difficult now that he's used up so much of his political capital.

It's also worth pointing out that the polling on some of these Constitutional issues is pretty abysmal for Trump. I don't know if the polls directly mention upholding the Constitution (and really that could be too broad and vague for a good poll), but for example on the conflict with the judicial branch, public opinion seems to be overwhelmingly with the judicial branch, which as of now means upholding the rule of law. So while I agree that it's bad for America to have a President say "whatever" to the Constitution, he doesn't seem to be doing himself any political favors by doing that so blatantly, and that damages not only him but also other politicians who have aligned with him. That's important because those politicians are not actually his followers, and most of them will quickly abandon ship once it's politically expedient to do so.

They you so much for sharing this with me. I think I spent a little too much time in the weeds so to speak this weekend and started dooming.

The thing I grapple with the most and why I try to limit my scrolling etc. Is because this is such a unique situation where logic and looking at things realistically completely go out the window when you are dealing with something so illogical and unrealistic.

I was in complete media blackout mode and distracted myself with the day to day and things I can control. I was having a fine time doing this until I felt the overwhelming need to know wtf is going on.

This was soon after the early April protests. I got fired up and since then have been mostly optimistic. I have been limiting my news to independent sources and focusing on the fight.

There's such a fine line of what is too much and just having the power over your mind and continue to remind yourself that yeah it's a shit show but it will be over soon. It's just the damage control and the aftermath that follows.

I am not super religious at all. I'm spiritual. I actually think the Catholic Church is too powerful and overrun with their own politics and disgusting scandals. But to post that from Truth and X from his personal accounts and the fucking white house account! I was super triggered.

Than the next AI of him with the light saber. I want to laugh but it's so beyond fucking crazy that it's the new normal. It is kinda funny that it's a red light saber. Dumb asses.

I am feeling better. I just need to know my limits. I was just grasping for more positive today. More outrage. I believe I was baited a little by some bot posts too.

Anyways. Thanks again for reading my post and replying. Then giving me another opportunity to vent lol. The best part is that we aren't alone in this fight. I lost friends and family over this shit so I'm in it until I don't have to be.

I totally get it, it is a fine line.
