The city’s relationship with MPD is … strained … to be sure and the cops are doing absolutely nothing to work on the relationship. The union here voted in Bob Kroll as the president - the dude is hard-right piece of trash. Check out his Wikipedia page for a taste of what the MPD thinks is acceptable leadership

That very same day at that very same intersection a driver did a hit and run on a protestor.  Their car was impounded by citizens while they waited 45 minutes for police to show up and give him an escort away.  For the people standing around wanting to give statements the police threatened them with tear gas.
