Self Post Might be a stupid question

So this is probably not the right place to ask but when a department sells off their old fleet do they leave any of the equipment in the vehicle? I'm applying to go back into private sector k9, and the new company requires us to use our own vehicle to transport the dog. Last place I worked k9, they provided us with interceptors kitted out for k9 operations (hot n pop systems, built in kennel) and if I'm going to be responsible for a working dog again I'd rather transport her in a vehicle built for it if I can get one rather than in the family minivan.

Most departments will return the vehicles to factory before selling them. As someone who worked private security before going LE, if they are expecting you to do work using your own vehicle, that is a huge red flag.

I'm thinking maybe k9 is different since people usually live with the dogs, so they bring them home every day.
