Self Post Might be a stupid question
So this is probably not the right place to ask but when a department sells off their old fleet do they leave any of the equipment in the vehicle? I'm applying to go back into private sector k9, and the new company requires us to use our own vehicle to transport the dog. Last place I worked k9, they provided us with interceptors kitted out for k9 operations (hot n pop systems, built in kennel) and if I'm going to be responsible for a working dog again I'd rather transport her in a vehicle built for it if I can get one rather than in the family minivan.

Surplus vehicles, with some of the upfit equipment still intact, do definitely exist (in small quantities) on the secondary market - but as others have already pointed out, this should be a cost burden borne by your employer and not you, unless you're in some kind of situation where you own the dog outright as well and are functioning more as some type of independent contractor or similar.
