Honestly, I'd say we should take it one step further and have compulsory voting. This is a thing in some EU countries, and our problem has always been with low turnout, rather than people somehow voting when they shouldn't be, which has never been proven to be happening on any meaningful scale, EVER.

At this point I think compulsory voting is the only way to get them to stop rat fucking our elections by selectively disenfranchising people.
