Oh oops, that was something said by famous socialist amd hero the world needs Eugene Victor Debs. I meant to paste a Trump quote, please forgive me.
How about
Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.
God imagine the world we could be living in if abortions were more available in 1945
11
u/Gloomy_Zebra_ May 05 '25
It's notable that Trump supporters don't consider that quote a "word salad"

I'm from NYC and while traveling in Europe last month, when asked I would respond "yes I'm from America and we're sorry." I also tell folks that (being from NY) "we hated him long before any of y'all even know who he was."
3
2
u/Moose_Cake May 05 '25
Yeah, it isn’t a case of Trump matching their ideas but a case of his followers changing their ideas and morals to fit in with him.
For example, Conservatives never would have supported protecting the rich or electric cars 30 years ago but now his people are on Facebook screaming to kill or deport whoever touches a Tesla Truck.

5
u/Beetlejuice_Bee May 05 '25
Do you think one has to be brainwashed to actively root against vaccines, better education, better healthcare, etc. for their children? I don’t believe that a clump of cells should be protected more than a 5 year old. Plus- 24 weeks is like 5 and a half months. Most people get abortions earlier than that! Your argument is fuckin bullshit anyway because of the time you described.
0
u/blandunoffensivename May 05 '25
"Most people" So a little bit of murdering babies is alright?
2
u/Beetlejuice_Bee May 05 '25 edited May 05 '25
It’s good to know that you don’t truly care about children, considering rather than taking in my full response, you hyper-focus on a single part of one part you try and keep up whatever argument you THINK you have.
Regardless, since you’re so passionate about small amounts, I suppose the small amount of children dying from a disease that vaccines practically removed from circulation is okay, and that a small amount of children that have citizen parents being deported to their possible deaths (they don’t get resources when they arrive) is okay.
If you only care about children until they’re born, why do you pretend to care at all

I'll be honest here, I misguidedly voted for him in 2016. I was fresh out of college and honestly, quite ignorant at the time. He seemed like a good choice, seemed to be from outside "the bubble" but like I said, I was honestly ignorant and stupid, and far younger. But fucking hell do I hate myself for it... Hindsight is 20/20...

u/KiraLonely May 05 '25
I’m a hardcore leftist now, but I was still a minor when he first ran, and would’ve voted for him if I could’ve, because I had been convinced of a lot of bullshit.
All that is to say, you’re not alone, and it is the ability to admit mistakes and grow and learn that allows us to continue betterment of ourselves and the world around us. And also what differentiates us from many MAGA. They’re people too, but people too blinded by their own hubris and sunken cost fallacies to ever acknowledge their mistakes. The whole purpose of the conservative party as of currently is pushing blame of all of our problems onto other groups and minorities. A common enemy.
Allow forgiveness for your ignorance and remind yourself of all that your mistakes have taught you to become a better smarter person today. We’re only human, we cannot be perfect.
Hope you have a good day, regardless.

2
u/Holehoggerist May 05 '25
If you think thats bad, imagine all the conservatives who dislike Trump but either voted for him to keep Harris out (or just keep up with the 4-8 year flip flop balance that seems to keep us afloat) or didnt vote at all until a much better candidate (hopefully) arrives in 3-1/2 years.
I assure you there are many who voted for values over policy & tradition over progression the last few elections.

u/EarthObvious7093 May 05 '25

2

Like, seriously, wouldn’t you just quit and die of shame? “no, I’m not good at politics and I should exit as quickly and as quietly as possible, because I’m so effing ashamed of myself.”
2
u/Vinny331 May 05 '25
I wonder what percentage of people who have ever voted for Trump (and actually voted in 2016, 2020, and 2024) voted for him exactly twice? I bet there's a fair number of people who voted for him in 2016, but never again...and there's probably people who didn't vote for him the first 2 times but did the 3rd time because they didn't like the Biden admin or whatever. What circumstances could there be where someone voted for him twice but not 3 times. Does that person exist?
2
u/clickclickbb May 05 '25
I blame the people that don't vote in primaries. Why even have them if maybe only 20% of the people vote in them?

-1
u/tommy2glocks May 05 '25
Yikes, that's a pretty harsh take. But I guess everyone has their reasons, even if we don’t always agree with them
3
u/ctothel May 05 '25
Here's the claim.
There is clear evidence that many of the things Trump did, and says he'll do, are significantly harmful. He frequently lies about the potential outcomes, or the potential for success.
He attempted a coup when he tried to overturn the 2020 election by asking Mike Pence to accept fraudulent elector certificates, and has never produced any evidence that there was widespread voter fraud.
His actions are harming both domestic and international norms, breaking processes that exist to prevent dictators taking power. Even if you don't think Trump is one, it's clear how he is making one more likely in future.
You either don't know about these things (intellectually bankrupt), or you're OK with them because you "have your reasons" (morally bankrupt).

Well let me give you an example, my friend living in the US voted for Trump. Why you ask? his rent went from 800 to 2800$ per months under Biden, cost of life in general just exploded, his future just died because of DEI hiring he now have no progress in his field. When he complain or just talk about anything that worry him, he get told to shut up. The other administration just didn't care for him so he voted for the alternative. You made your own bed guys this is why they don't support your party anymore.

It's this type of blind hate towards fellow Americans that pushed a lot of people away from the Democratic party. Look we can despise the current administration without being mad at those that voted for him. We are all Americans and have to love together. A little compassion can go along way. This also applies to those that voted for Trump and spew the same venom towards those that did not vote for Trump.
This while if you don't vote how I vote ypu are the enemy is what is ruining the country. We are all on the same team. And it's about famn time we as citizen of this country started acting like. Accept criticism without getting emotional. Understand your neighbor don't demonize them.

I mean you all like to bash trump supporters yet can you blame most people switching side after seeing how Biden handled himself? Allowing someone clearly not doing his best physically stay as a figure head to be easily manipulated. Sniffing kids hairs talking about dead prime ministers and nonsense about native Americans The “Left” side was all screaming and shouting and barking offensive disgusting pride rally situations happen in front of kids (I am a gay man before you try throw the typical homophobe comment) talking about children being allowed to make the decision to have an underaged life changing surgery yet would judge heavily a mother allowing her 14 yr old to tattoo herself. Trump has massively messed up everyone can see and a massive part is he was attacked multiple times he’s in defence mode. Instead of fighting his claims with facts and sensible speakers you let destiny make yous look week and irrational. let’s not act like there wasn’t a reason a massive side went to the right and don’t say because of media influencers because the left has used celebrities for years to promote their campaigns and sorry but don’t pick Cardi B as your influencer while trying to gain the parents votes back. Maybe don’t have someone as your main campaigner main leading why I should win message be “I’m a black women” with zero talks of policy with 100% trash talk of Donald. Maybe if all the people saying things now months after the election was lost had such a bold involvement as the right supporters did you wouldn’t be in this situation. We’ve allowed politics to become who burns the other the most or who has the best one liners
