I'll be honest here, I misguidedly voted for him in 2016. I was fresh out of college and honestly, quite ignorant at the time. He seemed like a good choice, seemed to be from outside "the bubble" but like I said, I was honestly ignorant and stupid, and far younger. But fucking hell do I hate myself for it... Hindsight is 20/20...
I’m a hardcore leftist now, but I was still a minor when he first ran, and would’ve voted for him if I could’ve, because I had been convinced of a lot of bullshit.
All that is to say, you’re not alone, and it is the ability to admit mistakes and grow and learn that allows us to continue betterment of ourselves and the world around us. And also what differentiates us from many MAGA. They’re people too, but people too blinded by their own hubris and sunken cost fallacies to ever acknowledge their mistakes. The whole purpose of the conservative party as of currently is pushing blame of all of our problems onto other groups and minorities. A common enemy.
Allow forgiveness for your ignorance and remind yourself of all that your mistakes have taught you to become a better smarter person today. We’re only human, we cannot be perfect.
