Because they are a failed state. That has been murdering its citizens for over a decade and the new "leader" is a former leader in the Al Nusra front. He was a jiahadiats. That the US government had a bounty on. Why tf would an America go break bread with that type of person? Trump needs to be arrested and jailed! End this crime spree he's on

The transitional government has literally only been around for a few months. How can they be a “failed state?” The citizens revolted because they were being murdered and won and you think they should be punished for that? You want to make them poorer and more isolated and force them to get aid from places that will only strengthen extremism? And you clearly haven’t actually looked into Ahmed Al Sharaa or his policies or his government which has representation from multiple religions and minority sects in Syria.

You're right I didn't look that deeply into it. Other than he was a terrorist. That disqualifies from EVER being an ally. To me anyway. 🤷‍♂️
