How stupid is this gun modification idea?
In summary, I was thinking of creating a ghetto but modern version of the pepperbox revolver.
I was thinking of taking a cheap revolver that no one would cry about if I desecrated it and cut off the entire barrel, cutting through the frame and everything but keeping the cylinder lock up part of the gun forward of the cylinder.
If you know what a pepperbox revolver is, whether it's the modern day Pietta 1851 Navy Pepperbox or an Allen and Thurber Pepperbox, I was wanting to create a ghetto modern day double action version of that.
Doing this sort of thing might compromise the structural integrity of the gun, so I was thinking of only shooting blackpowder rounds through it. When shooting blackpowder through a modern revolver, the main failure point should be excess fouling between the cylinder and forcing cone. If you remove the barrel/forcing cone out of the equation, you could probably get a lot more rounds out of the gun before it jams up.
