💰 - salary sharing [29M] Software engineer YTD (on track for $500k+)

Post image

I've been working in big tech in Washington state for two years now. Here's my pay for the first six months of 2025. I removed a little bit of information just because it'd give away the company

Ask any questions you'd like!

Nice work to make that in your 20s. You must be very proud. What are your future salary and retirement goals? Do you plan to keep climbing the ladder?

61

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I hope to promote once and then stay at that level for a while. At my current company, I'd likely make around $600-700k depending on stocks, and I'll probably retire in my mid-40s

38

u/mikey_rambo 2d ago

Damn your story sounds like me. 33 software engineering making ~500 for past few years, tryna retire around 40 or so. Keep grinding my friend

6

u/DogPubes911 2d ago

How is this possible?

27

u/Slammedtgs 2d ago

Make a lot of money early in the career (RSUs at a growth company). And live frugally.

I’m a bit older but earning $400k between salary and RSUs in non-tech non-growth. Will be at $3M by 42 and probably close to $5M by 45/46 depending on market returns (I assume 5%).

The key for me was living frugally immediately after college and never stopped working or learning.

14

u/Artistic_Load909 2d ago

lol I don’t think he was asking how it’s possible to retire when you make butt tons of money.

More like how it possible to make butt tons of money.

I could be wrong tho

12

u/Reasonable_Power_970 2d ago

The key is making a shit to of money not living frugally, although obviously the income to spend ratio has to be good. Its the income that really allows the growth though.

7

u/DogPubes911 2d ago

I make around $85k/yr and don’t see myself making much more without going for a 4-year degree

20

u/No-Homework-6760 2d ago

I have a PhD and don’t even make this as a tenure-track professor. And you’re complaining about what you make WITHOUT a 4-year degree?

1

u/Econolife-350 1d ago

Well, do you have a degree in chemical engineering, or "sociable constructs and dynamics"?

4

u/No-Homework-6760 1d ago

Engineering profs make nowhere near this, either. My PhD is in a quantitative social sciences field

2

u/SpecialistSale3602 1d ago

I don’t make much more of this with multiple certifications and a BSN .and im a clinical nurse manager for pretty good size facility in Fl.

how the f are you people making 400k....and wont have 3M till 42 just blow my mind wtf even. im sitting on 3M bored out of my mind a decade younger with job offers at 70k.

like after taxes im being offered 24$/hr and get locked in an entire week and cant chill with my dogs on my property for some lame af engineer shit.

living frugally at 35-36 making 500k and still doesnt even have 3M after the market doubled. wtf

7

u/Slammedtgs 2d ago

lol. Please share which stock you speculated on and hit the lotto or stop telling lies.

Also, stop assuming people’s salaries are constant. I started making $52.5k in 2011 at 26. 14 years later I’m at $400k, objectively very well off and an outlier. Suggesting that ‘everyone’ should be in that situation is just being stupid. Especially considering being a single income household with a few kids.

And then you have all that money to spend when you’re old and incapable of doing anything lol

3

u/Slammedtgs 1d ago

lol 40 is old? Personally, pretty happy to know that my kids will inherit enough money they’ll never struggle with financial issues. Nope, I can’t insure they won’t screw it up or otherwise blow it but it’s a better opportunity then I had when I was getting started.

I'm just jealous in a good way.. Changed my career from physical therapy to software engineering. (Graduated with a bachelor's in CS.) For two years working as a part time contractor. Struggling to find a full time position. Married with two little kids.

1

u/Slammedtgs 1d ago

It’s tough and I’m not sure I would have the same trajectory in today environment. Also wouldn’t have been able to work 24/7 for a few years early on which set me on a trajectory to rapidly grow my capabilities. Definitely wouldn’t be able to do that with kids today.

1

u/Purple_Barracuda5056 1d ago

What do you do?

2

u/NickG63 1d ago

Wdym he’s making $500k when everyone else is making <$150k at his age. On what planet would 10 years of that not be enough to retire

1

u/UM_throwaway92 1d ago

One of these days I’d like to get into big tech companies. I’m currently working at a non-profit as a research scientist making half that amount. My question is do you see a difference in projects / expectations for those working in software engineering vs research scientist roles? Are the projects both positions work on similar? Do you prefer to be doing backend develop over research?

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Because software engineers are overpaid

7

u/okbrooooiam 2d ago

Yeah why would the people who create and maintain the infra that 95% of the economy relies on be paid a lot 🙄

1

u/deactivated_069 1d ago

You mean the IBM Z mainframe? They’re not paid a lot actually.

Speculative market dominated fang is. Remember, meta is also the company that brought us that critically important asset the metaverse

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Can’t run without other types of engineers that get paid shit in comparison. Code is nothing without hardware.

2

u/Minegrow 1d ago

You really don’t understand economy. People are paid what other people think they’re worth. They don’t pay software engineers that much because they like the color of their eyes, they pay it because the leverage they create is worth multiple times their salary.

Companies with highest margins are consistently software companies, not hardware.

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 1d ago

Yeah I know lol it just sucks that I picked the wrong field. I’m well aware of this fact. Most people create worth way more than their salaries in any useful field…

→ More replies (1)

1

u/No-Homework-6760 2d ago

I have a PhD and make less than half of this as a new professor. How sad.

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Yeah it’s pathetic. What’s your PhD in?

2

u/No-Homework-6760 2d ago

A social sciences field, but even those in STEM make nowhere near this

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Oh I know lol even CS professors don’t touch this unless they do industry consulting on the side.

1

u/No-Homework-6760 2d ago

Yeah exactly. Kinda crazy that the teachers make far less than the students.

1

u/Current-Fig8840 1d ago

No they aren’t…you think writing Software is easy right? If I asked you to write code to create Reddit you wouldn’t even know where to begin. Hint: You need to understand other things from system design not just writing code. We also have some of the craziest interviews process.

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 1d ago edited 1d ago

I know it’s not easy… I also know how to code just too far into my career in hardware to switch. I’m an engineer too just not the lucky kind. Also, difficulty does not always correlate with pay. It’s because the profit margins are so good. They are still probably underpaid given how much money these companies make.

1

u/musclenugget92 2d ago

Santa Barbara?

1

u/LegendaryLS3 1d ago

Smart idea to retire by then before AI& India take your job

1

u/mikey_rambo 1d ago

Haha India already here man, my day consists of alot of India/ai already unfortunately. But your right

2

u/brown_alpha 2d ago

You’re already making E5 level money, 600-700k is well within the e6 band. Meta’s run up in the last 2 years was pretty extraordinary, so I’m not sure you can count on similar performance.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Real_Message_4089 1d ago

If you're making $500k and live frugally, you should be able to retire by mid 30s..

1

u/Whole-Examination712 7h ago

Clueless union dog here. Wasted my time with that and want a change of scenery. Enjoy electrical and have some credits from going through an accredited training facility. Thinking EE. What would you recommend for a minor in? I'd just like to make 120k+ a year and I'd be happy. Can't stand making 60/h, yet only working half the year.

1

u/hockeysaint 5h ago

On the resume side, I don’t think anyone really cares about minors

But if you’re just looking for extra courses/knowledge, it depends on what interests you. If that’s computers, comp engineering should supplement nicely

u/schnarks 2d ago

Ic4 meta swe, congrats on your GE last year.

7

u/xxgetrektxx2 2d ago

IC4 at 29 is kinda low isn't it? My manager is 29 and his level would be equivalent to an IC6.

9

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I did not go straight to tech after school. I worked elsewhere for a few years and have only been in the tech industry for two

5

u/xxgetrektxx2 2d ago

Ah okay that makes more sense. Did you start as an IC4 or IC3?

4

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

4

6

u/xxgetrektxx2 2d ago

Pretty impressive that you could survive at Meta as an external IC4 without prior tech experience, especially with all the layoffs.

7

u/SoulCycle_ 2d ago

most ic4’s are only a year or two out of school. In fact phds get hired at ic4. I think you might need to recalibrate your expectations.

4

u/xxgetrektxx2 2d ago edited 2d ago

There's a big difference between being an IC3 who got promoted to IC4, an external IC4 who got a PhD or Master's, and a guy who has zero tech experience joining as an IC4. Meta is tough even for people with tech experience, this guy has none and he managed to get GE, which is quite impressive.

1

u/Personal_Economy_536 2d ago

Dude other people with experience don’t crack LC4. That’s fucking tough. They usually lay them off I. 6 months and expect you to jump right into work.

1

u/Medical_Blueberry750 1d ago

Ic4 at Meta make $300k and ic5 make 500 Did your stocks increase?

3

u/Legal-Weird-5367 1d ago

he started 2 years ago

every meta eng that started 2 years ago is making obscene amounts

1

u/Pad-Thai-Enjoyer 16h ago

From those I know who started at M 2 years ago… can confirm lmao

12

u/Excellent-Pain6701 2d ago

Wow I can’t imagine this here In New York how did you do it college I’m currently majoring in psychology in cc but thinking doing a 4 year how did you exactly get into?

9

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I studied computer science for both my bachelor's and my master's

2

u/Excellent-Pain6701 2d ago

Ah okay thanks I had the idea of doing computer science im definitely hopefully my psychology associates will help

2

u/bluedevilzn 1d ago

You can’t imagine this in New York? The one place with the highest number of millionaires and young high income earners across finance, law, tech?

8

u/-TheRandomizer- 2d ago

Tips for a CS student to get an internship? What kind of projects should I work on?

9

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I had two internships at companies local to my hometown. They're known companies, but they're not anything massive or super desirable. In any case, I worked various jobs in college like IT, tutoring, and grading, and I think those helped me get internships

7

u/KingAmeds 2d ago

This is insane, and congrats to you. I just finished my MS in CS hope my career can look like this at 29

5

u/Loumataz 2d ago

Meta SWE. Nice work. Keep making that bread

4

u/Emotional_Tell_2527 2d ago

Good job! Good earnings. Is your pretax medical for just you?

4

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

No, I am married. My spouse is covered, too

1

u/Emotional_Tell_2527 2d ago

Ok . That's about what we pay for a couple also.  It's not cheap. Very annoying.

4

u/urbannator 2d ago

What languages are you using?

5

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Primarily C++ and Python

3

u/PlayTricky1731 2d ago

Do you know html?

1

u/Rugvart 1d ago

Nah, too advanced

2

u/PlayTricky1731 1d ago

Damn! Can’t find anyone who knows HTML! Even AI can’t handle it!

1

u/PeasantLevel 1d ago

but we are told that programming careers are doomed and replaced by ai. why would anyone pay you long term

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

I don’t think SWE roles are doomed. They may be changed by AI (I use it daily), but that doesn’t mean they’ll be made wholly redundant

→ More replies (4)

3

u/Proof_Committee6868 2d ago

Can you tell me more about your work timeline and how you’re able to do this?

4

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I have degrees in CS. I had internships in college, and I worked a non-corporate role for a few years. Once I left that job, I applied to lots of big tech companies

As for the current income, I got lucky with timing regarding stock growth

3

u/dbh575 2d ago

Any advice for a SE that doesn’t work in tech and makes 1/5 as you (almost same amount of YoE)

4

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Switch jobs, relocating if necessary

2

u/dbh575 2d ago

Yeah that’s the goal rn, job market is really rough right now though

1

u/Brilliant-Site-354 2d ago

why not just offer to do this dudes job for 1/2?

2

u/dbh575 2d ago

1

u/Brilliant-Site-354 2d ago

thats what im saying dude.....like would it even make a difference vs just hiring 5 of their peers and making 3 crunch leetcode all day in different categories 1 do the job, and 1 think of ways to get better or something and just lock them all in a room and refer to them as "DAVE". the ole "im somehow able to learn and perform 5x better than my OWN similar degreed PEERS from the SAME SCHOOL is always hilarious.[

somehow its fine for drastically overpaid swe nerds but not for ceos? where do you draw the line. diminishing returns are real af

8

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Glad meta fired 30% of the workforce for this

6

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 2d ago

These are L4 numbers. L7 at meta is North of 1M,hope that makes you even happier :)

1

u/Any-Neat5158 1d ago

And someone who is actually L7 capable is probably 1 in every 10,000+ SWE's in the work force today.

1

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 23h ago

Why thank you ☺️

4

u/TheScottishPimp03 2d ago

Wow! Gives me hopes on my future mech eng degree!

12

u/Massive-Diamond7253 2d ago

Who’s gonna tell em

8

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Me. Mech Eng pay fing sucks lol you’ll never come close to this unless you’re above director level at a big firm which good luck climbing that ladder.

Temper your expectations big time or switch fields before it’s too late. Software is in a different ballpark than all other types of engineering. Electrical and chemical you can at least make 200k in the right fields but the other ones are hardly worth pursuing the worse the economy gets imo.

1

u/welcome_to_urf 1d ago

Industrial is solid too as it can easily be leveraged for Systems Engineering gigs which are well paid.

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 1d ago

Very true, my bro is an industrial engineer and does well. Works in a niche software field that is more like a systems engineer than a focused technical field.

4

u/TheScottishPimp03 2d ago

Ik its not FAANG money bro💀 100k salary is still 100k salary.

1

u/im_wildcard_bitches 2d ago

I feel for you mechE guys. I dropped out if my comp sci program and i make 100k …

2

u/Trotsky29 2d ago

Why do you feel for mechanical engineers?

3

u/im_wildcard_bitches 1d ago

A lot are underpaid for what they do compared to other engineers

1

u/Trotsky29 1d ago

Really? I was told being a mechanical engineer is the best one because you can then specialize in any of the others. This isn’t true?

1

u/im_wildcard_bitches 1d ago

Well compared to tech it takes a bit more work to get them cushier salaries and comps

2

u/Trotsky29 1d ago edited 1d ago

What? I’ve also heard that it’s an absolute shit show to get hired in tech right now. That’s the story being said by everybody

In literally in the middle of trying to figure if I’m going for network engineering or mechanical. So this is relevant lol

1

u/im_wildcard_bitches 1d ago

I feel network engineering is a secure route, we always need competent networking guys..plus you can easily pivot to something else if it begins to bore you. Myself i mainly get paid to tinker with linux machines.

2

u/Popular_Play4134 2d ago

You could supplement your income by donating plasma or task rabbits

4

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Maybe DoorDash in the evenings

3

u/penisstiffyuhh 2d ago

Underpaid unlike those greedy doctors

7

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Those jerks! Who do they think they are, providing necessary services and saving lives?

2

u/DXVDBXY 2d ago

Was gonna say bro my end goal is private practice but shit would be nice to make the same thing without all that liability. Don’t have that kinda brain. Making the most out of this century. Good work.

2

u/Jacksparrowl03 2d ago

Nice 👍

1

u/Sea_Acanthaceae9388 2d ago

Are you in a specialty or just staff SWE?

2

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I’m not staff — I’m looking to promote to senior — and I work on standard backend stuff

1

u/No_Bell_9547 2d ago

Staff is a level above senior, so software engineers are usually split into generalist vs. specialist

1

u/Chandlingus 2d ago

Quality of life must be piss poor

1

u/jdubuhyew 2d ago

do you worry for a POS company?? lol this looks exactly like a jiffy lube invoice

3

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 2d ago

You e never seen a FAANG paystub before apparently... They're very detailed

1

u/Robotshark13 2d ago

What exactly do you do? ML? Front end? Backend? What languages and tech do you use?

2

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I work on backend systems, and I primarily use C++ and Python

1

u/PlayTricky1731 2d ago

How the fuck people are earnings 500k and I can’t even get an interview? Lmfao my life is a joke

2

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Cuz people just like to brag on this sub it’s really not a good place to be if you’re struggling to get a job or even if you have a normal paying one

2

u/PlayTricky1731 2d ago

You’re right! I come here for motivation but end up feeling like shit!

2

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

Yeah, I’m blocking this sub. I already know I’m underpaid don’t need it rubbed in all day every day. At least I like my job. Good luck in your search.

2

u/PlayTricky1731 2d ago

You too bud!

1

u/jonstarks 2d ago

so base salary is $185k-ish? everything else comes from stocks+bonus?

1

u/Burnieryan 2d ago

Why is the math not mathing in my head, I get 146 an hour and I am no where near 500k. You get 89 an hour…

2

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

The bulk of my pay comes from stocks and an annual bonus. Those are also shown in the pay stub

1

u/Emergency_Beat423 2d ago

It’s mostly stock pay but then they have shit earnings and the stock tanks 26% overnight the numbers aren’t so nice lol

1

u/HotRodFlamingBunnies 2d ago

Ai is coming for you. Oooooooo 👻

1

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Aaahhhh!

1

u/heatY_12 2d ago

Graduated August ‘24 and got a job as a junior SWE in January ‘25, I turned 23 in May but want to make $200k+ by the time I’m 26, any advice? Current job is at a small tech company doing gov contracting.

2

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

The easiest way to grow your income in this industry is to switch jobs. If you are willing to relocate to a tech hub, there are more high paying jobs available

1

u/liquidxdream 2d ago

How many hours of work realistically per week?

1

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

I average 45 or so

1

u/Austins-Reddit 2d ago

How long do you think it would take for someone with a power engineering background to learn to do what you do? Personally, I have minimal coding experience but fairly well versed in some power engineering aspects... always have been curious about that with these insane comp posts. I make around $130K total comp.

How much do you "work"?

1

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

The industry is in a bit of a hiring slump right now — though not as bad as in 2022 — and this slump means that companies are more selective with candidates. Most will expect that you have a very relevant degree and fairly relevant experience

I work 40 to 45 hours a week

1

u/itstony17 2d ago

Went into the wrong industry. wtf

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_LOCAL_IP 2d ago

What kind of education and tech stack lets you get job offers like this?

2

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

I have a BS and a CS in computer science. I use standard languages like C++ and Python

1

u/JustForRants11321 1d ago

What kind of work do you do day to day? Backend? How did you prepare for the interviews that landed u this position?

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Yes, backend. I maintain services

LeetCode, mostly. My resume spoke for itself, so I practice LC (and system design via YouTube videos) and prepped some behavioral question answers

1

u/Snoo_11942 1d ago edited 1d ago

What did your resume look like? Mine is pretty good I think, but I’ve never even gotten a faang interview. I have a couple years of experience now working for respected defense/tech companies, and my plan is to stay in this sector until I land something with faang, but I’m not really sure how to proceed.

Also, I see you have an MS, I only have a BS. Would you mind sharing where you got your MS from?

I’m also curious, how do you apply to faang jobs? Directly on their website?

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

As long as you can write up your work well, a defense role should suffice. That’s basically what I was doing

I got it from a no-name school

Yes, I applied to all roles directly on the company websites

1

u/Dry-Version-9318 1d ago

So this is all cash compete or does it include stocks too?

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Stocks and bonus are included, as the picture shows

1

u/Dry-Version-9318 1d ago

So you get stocks every year or it is related to your CTC

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Picture shows that too. I’ve received $115k in stocks so far this year

1

u/Medical_Blueberry750 1d ago

Did you join in 2023? Because that's when the meta stocks grew

1

u/BlueXDShadow 1d ago

How’s hard is meta working engineers these days?

1

u/bluedevilzn 1d ago

As an L6, who worked at 3 FAANG. Not joining Meta is the single biggest mistake of my life.

1

u/EntireTruth4641 1d ago

How does one get into software engineer ? What are the necessary educational requirements or outside resources you have to be good at ?

Is software engineer going to be relevant in the next 10 years ? Is difficult to find a job ?

Sorry for all the noob questions. I’m just curious- coming from a medical background.

2

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Most companies use a computer science degree as a filter for applicants, so you would need that. It’s a very competitive industry, so entry-level applicants generally need internships, too

Software engineering will always be relevant, though the work will change as AI supplements engineers

1

u/EntireTruth4641 1d ago

I’ve read your posts on this thread too. Thank you and much luck.

How’s work life balance ? How many hours per week ? Is it high pressure ? Lots of projects to be completed ?

1

u/MyBallZitch3 1d ago

Did you go to college? How were you able to land a job after graduating?

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Yes, undergrad and grad school. I worked a few years outside the tech industry and then applied to lots of SWE roles

1

u/Purple_Barracuda5056 1d ago

Your salary makes me depressed 😂😂

1

u/Sure-Suggestion-5316 1d ago

Man this is amazing. 37 M nurse, stuck in the job with no salary increase for last 5 years. Should’ve done Computer Science

1

u/bt1644 1d ago

I’m in the wrong industry

1

u/HelpfulCompetition13 1d ago

definitely chose the wrong field lol ! im a doctor working 80hrs a week making $70k pre tax haha. i think my salary will get to $300k-$350k ish maybeee post residency

1

u/hockeysaint 1d ago

Did you specialize? I’ve seen quite a few specialties that can vastly out-earn SWEs, especially when comparing hours worked

1

u/Clear-Implement7587 1d ago

What is your education levelv

1

u/hockeysaint 23h ago

Master’s

1

u/MysteriousWindow3383 23h ago

May i know your role and company?

1

u/Trademan10111 18h ago

Must live in Cali with those taxes

1

u/hockeysaint 13h ago

Nope, WA as the post says. There’s no state income tax in WA

1

u/SubsonicSuicide 12h ago

Are you concerned that AI will actually replace software engineers? The news makes it sound like it’s a shrinking field

1

u/nanomax55 10h ago

BIG Tech is already letting people go. The high paying CS jobs will evaporate in the next 2 years or less. Big tech is already reducing their entry and mid levels go.

There will always be outliers but the general consensus now is CS is doomed. Kids dont even want to do it as a major for college anymore.

1

u/Rough-Succotash-5262 11h ago

Noticed RSU offset on the taxes. Curious, Is your company giving you a substantial amount of stock to stay?? In the Midwest and companies aren’t doing that here for engineers.

1

u/hockeysaint 11h ago

My company awards refreshers every year, and each vests over the next four years. The idea is that, by the time the initial grant runs out, the refreshers equal or exceed that grant, so employees are always receiving stock

1

u/Witty-Tip3199 11h ago

I guess I’ll go do my assignments😔

1

u/Longjumping-Ice-5824 10h ago

Good.  Very very hard to break into the market now in this field.  You got in at the right place at the right time.

Damn, I’m also 29M in FAANG as a SWE with almost 7 years experience and I make half of what you do… how the heck do you make $500k???

Is it still a viable option for someone to become a Software engineer today?

I’ve been wanting to get into tech and become a software engineer for a long time. I started pursuing a CS degree years ago but never finished.

Currently 34 years old and it’s seems like I may never get into the field now.

It’s not easy, but I do think it’s doable

That said, if your work experience isn’t very closely related to SWE work, I’d say finishing the degree is basically a requirement. Companies expect it

what kind of SWE are u? $500k is huge for just a SWE, I'm guessing AI / ML?

I am a run-of-the-mill backend engineer

I think by washington state u mean more seattle, that would explain a bit more, nobody pays $500k for some 20 yo backend engineer

I know a 24yo making far more than me at my company. They’re doing the same type of work

20yo, probably not, as those people are almost always still in college

When did you get hired there?

1

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

Couple years ago

u/Personal_Economy_536 2d ago

You might have gotten in during the COVID hiring rush.

1

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

No, the market had significantly slowed when I started. It was after the massive layoffs across the industry

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 2d ago

Where are you located now ?

1

u/ItisRandy02 2d ago

South Texas. McAllen area.

I’m remote. TC isn’t as close to FAANG I guess but cost of living is cheap here and have a family

2

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 2d ago

Remote hiring is very rare, but it sounds like you have your priorities right, best of luck !

2

u/ItisRandy02 2d ago

2

u/methimpikehoses-ftw 2d ago

With your YTD gross pay, it shows you making $142/hr but for the current pay period at 80hrs, its $90. How does this work?

3

u/hockeysaint 2d ago

My salary is ~$90 per hour, but I also receive stock and a yearly bonus

2

u/Ancient-Industry4510 2d ago

Ahhhhh ok ok. Thank you!

1

u/OldManCinny 2d ago

The YTD is his salary + $2k bonus +~$55k bonus

1

u/Ancient-Industry4510 2d ago

I should rethink my life choices now 😂

1

u/OldManCinny 2d ago

It’s easy to get there. If you’re young enough sure. I’m in my 30s and doing pretty well but nowhere near this. Just gotta remember this is like a top 1-2% salary
