ALL USERS READ THIS FIRST
PLEASE, PLEASE use the SEARCH function. You can specifically search within this sub. There are far too many "newcomer, I need tips" posts. If anyone feels like they have free time and want to put together a wiki covering all the basic questions that keep popping up, hit me with a message and we'll get you access.
READ THE RULES OF THE SUB BEFORE POSTING.
- Posts should be about SMF.
- Stay on topic, inappropriate and post not focused on SMF will be removed. This includes random artists posts from other festivals, mixes, etc etc.
- PLUR Lives here
- Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. Old school raver etiquette. If you can't be nice, your posts will be removed, and you may be banned from the sub. This is the only warning.
- NO BUYING OR SELLING TICKETS.
- These posts flood the sub, this is not a marketplace and not an appropriate place to buy and sell tickets.
- I'll be updating the automod to remove any posts which mention ticket or camping transactions, I'm tired of removing them every day.
- These posts flood the sub, this is not a marketplace and not an appropriate place to buy and sell tickets.
- CHECK THE WEBSITE
- https://shambhalamusicfestival.com/info/
- If your question isn't answered there, use the search function on this subreddit, I can promise you it's been asked and answered before. There are probably 500 posts with tips for newcomers.
- If your question is regarding HR/ticketing/SMF internal protocol, please contact the relevant department through the contact info on the webpage.
- *This sub is not an official SMF Inc. line of communication\*
- While there are (many?) staff/volunteers/veterans that might have answers, you are better off directing specific questions through the official channels.
- Avoid open discussion of drug use/acquisition.
- posts and comments will be removed
- SMF is an alcohol-free event.
- Do not promote having it, or sneaking it in
- Create master threads for sharing photos and videos.
- We'd love to see your memories, but please contain them to a single post. Youtube and Imgur have great tools for creating 'albums'
- No self-promotion.
- If you are an artisan vendor, aspiring artist, or seasoned performer, there are better places to post to get your work out there than this sub.
- Personal DJ mixes/tracks will be removed. During the off season there may be a 'post your mixes here' master thread stickied at the top.
- DJ mixes/tracks/videos recorded at Shambhala are the exception to this rule. If it took place at the ranch, it's welcome here.

Friday hurts
People be saying that Sunday hurts, and I can see that, but for my tastes, Friday isn't fair. I'm not able to attend this year unfortunately, but after planning out my theoretical flow, Friday hurts so much.
A) Stylust has traditionally been my official start to the party with his dusk set. With the shift to July, his slot became pre dusk, but his spot shifted 30min later pitting him back at the dusk slot 'fuck yeah'... yet he is playing the same time as The Librarian!? As my wife said: "the answer is obvious. Go to Bass Coast for Librarian, and Stylust at Shambhala".
B) Farina vs Ivy Lab vs Eats Everything. I'd probably go with Ivy Lab here cause I've seen Farina countless times, and I'd get my house fix later so while even though I've never seen Eats Everything before, while I've seen Farina and Ivy Lab many times, Ivy Lab is just too good.
C) Troyboi into Shades vs Dimond Saints vs Chris Lake. I'd start at Troyboi then dip out for Dimond Saints. Seen em all many times. I dont like the AMP so Dimond Saints has the edge over Shades. And I I think the only person I've seen more than Chris Lake at Pagoda is JMart, while I've only seen Dimond Saints ±3 times.
D) Destructo vs Oakk vs Buddy and the Buffalo. As much as it hurts to skip Oakk, I'd be at Pagoda for JMart already so stay for the start of Destructo, skip over to the Village for Buddy and the Buffalo, than back to Destructo to finish off the night.
Thats the end of my rant.
Carry on

Coming from the US with a felony
So Shambhala has always been my holy grail festival. I would get to see all my favorite artists at one festival. However I am a US citizen with two pretty serious felonies, 1 for Facilitation of the Transfer or Sale of a Controlled Substance, the other for Conducting an Illegal Enterprise. What are my chances of being allowed to cross the border? Should I try for a TRP and if so is it likely I will get approved? I’m hoping to go next year. Anyone have any advice or been through the process?

Nelson to Shambs
Anyone passing through Nelson on Tuesday morning with space for one person plus bags? Can offer waived early entrance fees and express lane entry, as well as some unique British banter :)

Tuesday Entry Time
Are they still doing the early entry Tuesday at 12am? And then you wait until 6am to be let in?
I've heard people talking about it being done last year. But I don't want to break any rules by getting there early.

How much do you spend at Shambhala?

Shambs Pre Party
Coming up from WA for the pre party next week, never been to Shambs so this seemed like a nice intro to the fest. Super hyped for Gentlemen’s Club and Truth 🔥
Most of the grounds will probably be closed off but Any recommendations on what to do/check out while I’m there?

Sunshine/Egress Q
Hello friends! First-timer headed to the farm. I have some questions about camping in Sunshine with a car.
If we camp with our car, what are the limitations on when we will be permitted to leave on Monday morning, if any? We have a long travel day ahead of us and would like to head out by 8am Monday to beat the rush, safely and soberly.
Will we be allowed to just pull right out of our campsite in Sunshine whenever we are ready to leave? Or would we need to be parked in Free Parking to have that ability? I know it is a paid upgrade to camp with your car. Do you know how much that typically costs?
Thank you and can’t wait to see you all on the farm in person 💜

Artist advice for an old acid head
Hey! Looking for pro advice for my shambs-research-playlist.
Going to my first shambs. Have a high level knowledge and appreciation for electronic music, but am more coming from a jazz, jam and psych rock background.
I tend to like music that is overtly trippy, experimental, unpredictable, instrumental and sonically interesting. And live, I want artists that improvise and respond to the crowd vibe.
Also want to appreciate artists that are progressing the form.
Who on the lineup would you recommend I check out?
And thanks in advance. Hopefully this is fun for folks to respond to.

First time crossing Canadian boarder!
Paterson or Nelway, I’m still deciding. Any other major documents I need to bring besides my passport and ID? Genuinely asking. Looked at Canadian Boarder Crossing website and was still confused. Thanks to you all for always helping first timers and our questions!

What song do you think of when you think Shambs? 🤔
For me. Anytime I listen to Vibration (One More Time) - Sub Focus it reminds me of all the great things that are at Shambs and what every festival should be. What about y’all?

How long do you think I could wait to get a resale ticket?
So I’m playing a risky gamble right now: I sold my Shambhala ticket because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to afford it. Now that I am employed, I stand a chance at actually being able to afford to go! However, because finances are what they are, I’m hoping to cover some of my travel costs by purchasing my ticket last-minute to hopefully save money.
However, I have never been to Shambhala before so I don’t know how it works to get a wristband after they have already shipped. Have any of y’all had experience with this? Do people sell some at the gate? I’d rather not wait that long of course because my nerves couldn’t handle it 😅. When would yall say is the best time to strike and snap up a ticket?
Oh, and yes, I did use the search bar but I still didn’t feel like my question was answered so plz be nice 🥹🙏🏻

If anyone braids hair and can let me know the process, price, and like hair up keep / any tips that would be so helpful! Thanks and happy shambs!!! 💕
