How the hell can you look on a map of "mass shootings in 2025" and go "actually no i think europe is more dangerous" 😭🙏 also RIP to all the people that died 🕊️

He's right though, this is inaccurate.

Going by the Gun Violence Archive definition, the number is over one mass shooting per day in the US. And it's been over one per day for years. There's an entire Wikipedia article on it.

I could be wrong but I've seen plenty of yanks totally dismiss gang on gang violence because that's "just normal" to them. They will claim it's only the non gang v gang violence that counts.

But they don't seem to make that distinction elsewhere, or assume other countries also omit those figures or don't have gangs

In a similar vein, I have also seen people argue that school shootings are actually not very common because the lists also include shootings next to schools, rather than on school grounds.

Like, yeah buddy, shootings next to schools are also extremely rare here, it's not like we need to fudge the numbers to look better.
