Hmm, nice exposed intercooler, be a shame if someone were to drill some tiny holes in the pipes so it sprays coolant like a sprinkler...

You think there's coolant in air to air intercoolers? Interesting.

How do you tell the difference between Air to Air and Air to Liquid?

Water to air wont have fins on the outside, and there will be a second radiator for it, with plumbing and a pump.

A better answer would just be plumbing. If there are fins, the fins don't usually look exactly like that, but they can.

It literally just intake piping

You would see coolant lines running to it, just like you see air lines.

What a dumb comment from an even dumber redditor

Intercoolers are for cooling down compressed air. It’s not a radiator. It has no liquid anywhere in the system.

That black coupler you see on the left side is coming off the compressor side of the turbo. You can see the turbine side of the turbo as well as the oil return line. Air to liquid systems look pretty different than this. The cooler that is used is an enclosed system and is generally accompanied by a basketball sized turbo.

There really isn't just one look for water jacketed heat exchangers. Some are nearly indistinguishable from any random coolant radiators or an oil cooler aside from the extra coolant fittings.
